Isn't the I-94 a piece of paper they were given at the plane just right before they landed? That's what I thought. We're not sure where those are.

What do you mean cannot locate it? They typed their information into the website and it doesn't find anything? In that case, maybe the officer misspelled their name or passport number or something. You can contact CBP to fix it.

Do not apply for extension of status. They can only apply for extension of status if they are planning to leave, which they are not. They will be required to attach a statement about the plans they have made to leave, which would be a lie.

Just file whenever they have all the materials ready, whether that be before or after their status expires. After they file, they are authorized to stay in the US.

They came here on a visitors visa. And they were only given 6 months to stay. So if we submit the I-130 and I-485 and the process don't get done before the 6 months, there's no need to file for extension of stay?m

Since mid-2013, I-94 has been electronic for people arriving by air.

No. As long as I-485 has been filed they can stay here.

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT file for an extension.

Once they file for AOS and receive their NOA1s they begin a new period of authorized stay until their cases are adjudicated. I-94s are electronic now.

You can look them up here:

https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/consent.html

But even if you don't find them there (sometimes names are misspelled, etc.), a copy of their stamps in their passports will work as proof of legal entry.

On I-130 Question 13, is the certificate number the one right on top of the "naturalization" word in the naturalization certificate or do I write the USCIS registration number?

Thanks :)

The one on the top right.

And can you please enlighten me further on question 22?

Put the USCIS local field office that covers your location.

On the form I-485, for their Current USCIS Status, do I write down Visitor?

Put the status it says on the I-94, which should be B-2.

Thanks for the replies. You guys are so helpful and kind! So, my dads mother petitioned my father almost 20 years ago but she passed long time ago. 3-4 years ago, my dad received an nvc number and he responded but couldn't provide further papers because the petitioner was gone. And then they received a letter that if they don't respond their petition will

Be abandoned. There's a question here if "have you applied for an immigration

Before" on I-485. Should I say yes on that one and "abandoned" for disposition?

Visitor visa is still a visa. It has a number and it was issued by a consulate on a certain date. List these.
