So, my baby's comin home tomorrow... after 15 months of being apart it just doesn't feel real. It's been so hard on him, saying his goodbyes and not knowing when he'll return to France. To think that this time tomorrow we'll have been together again for a few hours is just... whoa! What does he need to have on the plane with him again? The brown do not open envelope... isn't there something else?

It's funny, the 15 months we were apart flew by so fast... but now the reality of it is kicking in. The memories we have together are from 2005 - and now it's 2007. It seems (and is) so long ago... I don't remember what his hug feels like anymore... I don't even remember what it feels like to stand there and look up into his eyes. And that all finally ends tomorrow... wow... it's just so many combinations of feelings. Excited and relieved... worried about finances... sad for him having to leave his friends and family... on edge because of all the fighting we've done lately (15 months apart will do that to ya)... burned out because of a few bad weeks in work... combine them all together and I actually sort of feel numb. I don't know which one to feel first lol. I think I'm scheduling us for two back massages this weekend.

Eh, I'm just rambling. It just doesn't feel real that our K1 journey is ending, and then the AOS journey will begin. I guess, after 15 months of reading on the K1 forum, I just got used to being a "preparing to file K1" person. So it really, really doesn't feel real that he'll be flying in on his K1 tomorrow!

Did any of that actually make sense?

This actually made me cry a bit. I'm so happy for you. And empathetic. Although my husband and I were not apart for nearly as long as you. Take care.

I hope today goes well.

What everyone has said about the realising you DON'T have to go back to the airport to say goodbye...its a whole flood of emotions!

Even though we haven't been married long, its still good to remember about the time that we were apart!

Hope to hear back from you soon! (F)

We all react in different ways when we haven't seen our loved one for so long. Yes you might need some adjustment, but be sure that very quickly you'll know in your heart and soul that it was all worth it.

Be yourself, be true to you, take time if you need it and be understanding to each other as you have had time to change a bit in the past months.

It's the beginning of the rest, there is so much more to find out about each other now, enjoy it.

And today treat yourself, take a walk, read and breathe.

Let us know how it went.

Wow, this whole thread is bringing tears to my eyes. Right now, I can only imagine how it will feel to be in Angilla's position. To have my love home for good. To never have to do the dreaded drives to the airport to say goodbye. The last one was even harder than the rest and I'm so happy we will never have to do that again. Best wishes Angilla. I'm sure today will be absolutely amazing, just to have him by your side after such a long time.

I wish you the very very best and a long and wonderful life with your love.

Thank you so much everyone! He's safely home - with the temp EAD. :) He breezed through customs, didn't get asked a single question in JFK. Oddly enough they questioned him in Paris before he boarded the plane. He's inside watching a movie with my dad. I needed some space and figured I'd come in here to give ya'll an update.

I feel like I need to get to know him again... like someone else here said, to fall in love with him in person all over again. He's so mushy, wanting to hold and kiss me all the time, and I find myself pushing him back trying to gently say that I need to adjust first. I feel bad, I don't want to hurt his feelings, but I feel like I need to settle in and get used to it all again.

Anyway, he had his cello case... a 60 pound suitcase... a 40 pound suitcase... and a backpack. He got it all the way here from France, and he and I got it through the train station - where we had to carry it down 3 flights of stairs because there was no elevator or escalator down to the platform... and we had to stand for an hour and a half in a rush hour train shuffling the luggage from one side of the train to the other. We're sore and exhausted! But we're just glad he's here. :) And that we never have to say goodbye again. :)

I absolutely loved reading each post in this thread. I felt true happiness to hear that you two are finally together and a bit jealous at the same time.

As for everyone else, thank you so much for sharing your feelings. For a while I felt like I was the only one who at times has become numb and so obsessed with this visa process. It's become so mechanical with me counting the days, looking at timelines, seeing who received NOAs and who hasn't. Then I talk to my husband and that's pretty much all I want to talk about. We've had several arguments since the last time we were together and I feel so guilty. The thing is like you all said, you become numb because of the distance and because of the whole process that you start fighting for silly things. I really have to remind myself that it's just temporary and that we'll eventually get an approval, then he'll get his visa and then he'll be here with me.

Like Angilla said... so surreal.

Thanks again everybody!

And Angilla, I cannot say it enough: CONGRATULATIONS!

ROFLMFAO!!!

You ain't getting my sympathy, woman! We schlepped EIGHT suitcases all the way from Derry to West Virginia. Heavy ones too! (Though I have to admit....a cello would be....um....different!)

And there's still two gigantic boxes of comic books in his brother's attic for us to try and bring back the next time. Oh joy!

Happy reunion!

I'm just so happy for you guys! I know what you're feeling is totally normal an I'm confident you'll be fine in no time at all!!

I seriously wish I were at the point you're in! (We can't even file yet as I'm still waiting on my divorce nearly decree 3 years later)

Enjoy getting to know each other again! I'm sure it will be magic :luv:
