My wife received her green card early last week. It expires in 2018. What is the next step? Do we apply for ROC and if so, when? Is the next step the 10-yr green card and if so do we apply for ROC then? Also, do all ROC applicants have to be interviewed? What about applying for citizenship? By the way my wife will be delivering our first child in about a month!! A baby girl!!! Our first child and we are both in our forties!! God is good. Thanks for the help.

ROC=applying for 10-year GC.

Earliest you can file it is 90 days before her GC expires. (You can file it up until it expires.)

Start collecting pieces of evidence now. For example: joint bank account statements every month (or at least one from each quarter), joint credit card statements, insurance (car, health, etc) with both names on, leases with both names on, tax transcripts. Baby's birth certificate will be a very important piece of evidence. Congratulations on the baby girl, by the way.

You'll have an easier time when it comes to filing if you already have most of your documents saved up.

ROC takes a long time (up to a year), but only a small percentage of applicants are interviewed.

As far as naturalization, (assuming you two will still be married) she'll be able to apply 3 years (minus 90 days) after the "Residence since" date on her GC.
