My fiancé (Canadian) and I (American) are applying for a K1 fiancé visa. She had her in-person interview in Montreal on July 6. All went well there, and the officer said there were no red flags from their end. However, they did need to contact her physician because one box was left unchecked. She had recently had knee surgery, so the physician did not feel comfortable giving her one vaccination during her medical exam; Montreal needed to make sure she wasn't refusing the shot. The officer said she should receive her approved visa and passport within 1-2 weeks and that the only delay would be if the physician did not get back to them promptly.

We have confirmed that the doctor's office reached out to Montreal the next day, on July 7, and that Montreal responded to them on July 8 saying they had what they needed. It has now been 3 1/2 weeks and we haven't heard anything. An additional concern is that the CEAC website still says that our case status is 'Ready' to book an interview. Obviously this is incorrect since she's already had her interview. We've called and emailed Montreal asking to make sure they don't need anything else from us and that our case is moving forward, but the only response we've gotten from that is, "an email will be sent when the visa is issued." We want to ensure that, even if it’s taking longer than expected, things are moving forward and that there hasn’t been a snag in the process or it hasn’t gotten lost.

Have others experienced delays like this? Is there a way to find out what your actual case status is (aside from what the CEAC says)? Is there something else we should be doing or someone we should be contacting? I know it tells us not to do this, but I had a flight booked for yesterday to fly up there and drive her down here this weekend (we canceled it obviously); we figured that would have been plenty of time for her to receive her passport back, based off of what the officer said. Our wedding is set for August 20, so you can see why we're concerned about the timing.

Thanks for any feedback!
