Hi Vj members anyone with information about child custody in Germany? My fiancée is preparing for her k1 visa interview and she has a 5years old k2 who is also appearing for the interview . My question is does the us embassy in Frankfurt require custody papers or letter from the father at the interview? Has anyone with such experience in Germany?

The US Government will need either a notarized letter from the father, a court order, or authority under local laws that allows the child to immigrate to the US with the mother.

You do not want to get into an international custody battle where your fiancee commits parental kidnapping and violates the father's rights.

Agree with aaron2020. It is highly unlikely that the US government would be part of any immigration process that may expose the US government to any liability involving an international custody battle. Instead, they would likely deny any such applications without proper authorizations or documentation.
