I would like to caution that the age difference could be a factor, and the OP should be prepared for questions regarding the gap...given that the female is older. Sad, but true. The difference will probably not be a factor until the interview.

If your age gap was in the range of 15+ years, you might be put under closer scrutiny (Possible sign of fraud). But an age gap is no reason to deny an application. You have nothing to worry about.

My fiance and I have a age difference of 25 years and were put under no scrutiny whatsoever.

Maybe you should comment on something you actually KNOW something about.

Age difference doesn't really matter. The reviewers will be looking more closely to the way you act towards each other during the interview, but that won't happen until you are already married. What really matters is how you are together. Whether it is 6, 16 or 26 years apart, what is really important is can you both make it work.

One more thing. In this country the men and women tend to marry much closer in age. In a lot of areas of the world a woman looks for an older man as a husband. It's simple economics and common sense. An older man is likely to have settled down, so he won't be playing around, he is probably got a pretty good career going, might own a house and possibly will have accumulated some wealth.

So, don't worry about the six year difference. That is nothing at all.

Actually there are stories that a large age gap does result in closer scrutiny, and the consulate level, because they are looking for sings of fraud. That you had no problems w/ this issue, is your personal situation and no reason to belittle another person's comment by suggesting they don't know what they're talking about.

My wife is 12yrs older than me.

At the consulate they didn't ask to see any evidence, pics, etc.

I just received my Permanent Res card. At the AOS D.O.R.A interview the officer didn't make any reference to our age difference nor did he ask to see our photos.

Good luck

My fiancee David (the USC) is 62 and I am 28. I think as long as you can prove that your relationship is genuine, there's nothing to worry about.

i should be filling the I-129f next week after i get the g-325a signature and letter of intent from my gf in Mexico. Everything is ready to go on my behalf but now that I think about it, will they be suspicious when they know that she's 31 and I'm 25? (L)

She doesnt look that age. Actually I look older but in reality shes 6 yrs older than me. Will this be a factor down the road?

When I opened this thread I thought you were doing to say you were 70 and she was 20. No of course that doesnt look like a problem.

Thanks for the nice compliment. For the record I am 65 and my fiancee is 27. I hear so many people who say they don't look their age that I hesitate to say the same but most people seem to be a little surprised when they hear my age and to me I think most people would guess our age difference as less. Truthfully I never even think about the age difference when we are together and she says she does not notice it. We like the same things and it does not create a bit of a problem.

On the visa issue I seemed to move slower than most through Vermont and when we hit NVC we got put into A/R. I think now, since IMBRA they are looking harder at age differences to make sure it is a real relationship and not fraud but as long as the relationship is real they will approve it. I agree with you that there are women who want the stability of an older man and off course some who could not be happy in a relationship with someone who was not close to thier age. We all have our ideas about things and they don't care as long as there is no attempt at visa fraud. When we do finally get our interview I do plan to have the relationship very, very well documented.

Gary, you are an old man who is with a young woman. As I've repeatedly said since my fiance's interview, if you are a MAN who is older than your fiancee, they probably won't scrutinize as much because it's accepted that old men like young women. But when it's a WOMAN who's older, they DO scrutinize more. Or at least mention it. So, I think people ARE commenting on something they KNOW.
