HI there!

I haven't done much on Visajourney for a while or update any of my info but I'd like to share what happened to me yesterday.

I received my extension letter August 29th 2016, i had my biometric done and all that suff.

So! I went to get my passport stamped I got my info pass appointment and all, drove all the way to Milwukee for the stamp cause I'll be traveling from August 17th to the 29th and I was worried about the letter not beine enough, it's been over 11 months since I got the extension letter, and a USCIS agent said I should go ahead and get the stamp.

I handed my letter, GC, passport to officer and told him what I was told to do, he just looked at me and said; you're good, Your GC is still good until November, one year after it expires, they go by the GC expiration date not the letter? Huh!

I said that's not what I have been  told, he said I am telling you that you're fine and you can travelvet with no problem. And then he randomly said your case is being looked at by an officer right now. Umm...Okay? What does that mean?

I have so many questions and I'm not getting real answers.

I will cancel my flight and loose 900$ cause I'm getting told different things by different agents!

So they go by the Green Card expiration date not the extension letter?! So confused.

Sorry about the whiny post...

New processing times update is available. Now CSC is on June 20th's pile, and VSC is way ahead of CSC by nearly a month. So it is about 5 or 6 days a month. If this slow rate continues, they will get to July by October, and they will get to August by next Feb or March like exactly what I have been predicted, so hang in there, we may have to wait for another 6 months.

:( Vermont Center moves about 30 days per month. Why do the process so quickly and CSC is so slow???

Folks please watch you are getting close to be off topic for this thread. Many Countries do not allow dual citizenship so we have members who will just file for their 10 year card and others have other reasons to not file. So yes please take all Citizenship talk over to the appropriate forum.

Someone said over a month ago that CSC would play catch up, obviously not!  I think CSC are slow as they had case transfers a couple of months ago. I am not sure they are still on June though, as when I look at the daily processing times for Visa Journey they had been (and this was a week or so ago) adjudicating cases for September. I did try to look up the Ombudsman yearly report and no mention of the slow down for ROC, no mention of it, mentioned other delays that might have a knock on effect to ROC and how they had installed a new system which had technical difficulties, however that doesn't help the people like myself and countless others wondering why we are waiting so long for ROC.

I havent looked into travelling with the GC as mine was stolen so I do have a stamp, however @Derwood has helped you with regards to that. I just wanted to say I probably would take the officer saying your case is being looked at with anticipation, seems you will hear shortly. I did read a report yesterday think it was the Ombudsman report, cant remember, that an officer is assigned a case and it takes hours to go through it all. It use to take a couple of hours but because the information needed nowadays with visa applications is so complex it takes a day for an officer to read it all.  No wonder we are all waiting for so long.

So it turned out VSC is just as normal as it has been for years. It is CSC that has unprecedentedly slowed down in an epic way. I guess we just have to be patient and wait and wait, 6 more months if you are an August filer, 2 more for July. I filed my 400 this week, so my focus now is 400, and they may or may not combine the 2. We will find out in a few months. I already got my 551 stamp, so it really does not make that much difference but if 751 is approved, one major uncertainty will be gone. We will see.

Yes, but it does not explain why Vermont Service Center is processing normally though

Its not normal, they said they would get it down to 6 months but they are still taking around 13 months to process. I think what has happened is that its not only the new system that they installed for N400 its the applications for it too, as they didn't expect so many, Probably a vast rush for other visas in case the laws changed with the new government that had this knock on effect.

As far as I know, 6 month processing time is history and short lived. When I said "normal", I mean Vermont Service Center has not really changed. They usually take 1 year and 2 months to process 751, and this year is no different. It used to be CSC's processing times were always much faster than VAC. VSC had always known for taking a long time(a bit over a year, no different this year), CSC, 6 to 10 months. It just so happened that this year CSC is barely moving so it makes VSC normal by comparison. My lawyer who has 15 years of experience told me she has never seen CSC this backed up before, and she had never applied for 400 while 751 was pending for all of her clients until this year. Something must be causing the delay.

http://www.nolo.com/legal-update/uscis-delayed-processing-most-types-applications.html  I have been looking for you at reports about the backlogs and from what I can ascertain, priority is given  for adjustment of status and naturalisation, so ROC isn't as important to USCIS. With the N400 back log due to the new system hiccups  it has caused back logs  for the N400 which is more important to the USCIS than our applications. We just aren't a priority.

On our case updates, it says to call the general line and put in a request if we haven't had our decision by date X.

Any idea on whether this will actually help to expedite or give a ruling on the case?

Also if you think about it, the reason why there are so many applications for n400 whilst doing i751  is because they had delays for AOS and played catch up for that. I was one of those people with the waiver letter who had to wait nearly a year to get my AOS, so now the i751 is also taking over a year it back logs them even more. Its just one hot mess really.  They get back logs which cause more back logs, they install a system that is full of viruses and not ready for the job in hand.  Many people panic and apply for citizenship when the new government take over which backlogs the whole back log and then we have to wait longer for ROC which by which time we apply for the N400 too and that backlogs it even more.  The only way that they will ever catch up sufficiently is to open more centres, hire more people and then they will do what the government wants, hire American people for American jobs!  See I have solved their dilemma!! Lol

But still does not explain why it only affects CSC much more severely

The good news for you is that you don't have to wait too long as VSC has not been impacted by CSC's extreme slowness. VSC is processing mid July already in their "normal" speed, so you should have to wait for too long. As a matter of fact, I have seen some August VSC filers being approved, so your approval is definitely looming. CSC remains an extreme slow pace. I think I might hear something from them next when next Feb which is about 6 months away. Anyway, my 400 might prompt them a bit and they may combine both. Yes, your proposal is a great one, lol, but the budget might be in the way for many lawmakers.
