The stamp is just a proof of status. I talked to my company Immigration lawyers yesterday and they told me as long as you have a pending petition - your green card is valid. You don't need to have the stamp. The stamp makesit easier at the boarder if you travel - if you're not going to travel, don't bother getting a stamp, it's a waste of time. I went to the infopass anyway and tried getting a stamp. It's just peace of mind to know that I can travel whenever I need if I have a stamp. All my family is in Europe so if anything would happen- I need to be able to go without waiting for a infopass and so on.

Yeah, they told me to come back end of September in case I haven't gotten my GC yet - then he said - sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but to make your day better - let me check what is happening with your petition. Then he said, good news is that someone has looked at it June 28th. That might mean that someone is verifying your paperwork or that it has been assigned to someone to review. At this point, we are about 14-15 months out from petition date - so if all goes well, we won't be seeing you for a stamp in 2 months.

For curiosity on their answer, I asked if I can file N400 now or I need to wait for my ROC to be approved. He said I should wait while the lady next to him said that I can file. lol, would be better with a unanimous response - but whatever.

I visited Canada by land and came back to the US yesterday. :whistle:

The immigration officer at the port of entry scanned my expired 2-year Green Card and let me go! :yes: He didn't bother to check my I-551 stamp in my passport. :star:

My guess is that my expired Green Card showed enough information (including the 1-year extension for getting the I-551 stamp) on his computer screen so he didn't have to check the I-551 stamp in my passport! :thumbs:

So it looks like the expiration date on the 2-year Green Card means not much (as long as your I-751 application is pending and you've extended your status with an I-551 stamp) and you can continue to use it at the port of entry. :dancing:

2 to 3 years?? That is insane, not if you apply for 400 while 751 is pending. They will probably combine both..

I will be eligible in 3 weeks. However, I checked my local office online and saw that they are processing N-400 applications filled last July! So it takes more than a year to get my N-400 processed. Do you mean if I apply for citizenship while I-751 is pending, they will expedite my N-400? How?! I'm confused

By their guidelines, they are supposed to either combine the two or pull out your pending 751 and approve it so they can adjudicate your 400 if your 751 has been pending for a while after applying for 400. Anecdotal evidence shows they do combine in a situation like this, check out their guidelines for adjudication, it was just updated yesterday. "

USCIS updated their manuals for adjudication. It still says the same thing, check it out.

"2. Spouses with Pending Petitions and Naturalization Applications

An application for naturalization may not be approved if there is a pending petition for removal of conditions. If an applicant’s petition to remove conditions is pending at the time of filing or is filed prior to the interview, USCIS will adjudicate the petition to remove conditions prior to or concurrently with the adjudication of the naturalization application.^[6]""

USCIS updated their manuals for adjudication. It still says the same thing, check it out.

But if they combine my I-751 and N-400, it means that I don't receive my 10 year green card and I have to wait at least one more year according to N-400 processing time in my local office. Am I right?

We received the approval letter today! Updating our entry. How long has it taken people to receive the physical green card after getting the approval letter? I know the letter says up to sixty days, but I'm wondering if people here have generally waited half a week, one week, two weeks, et cetera.

I've also added @Kristaps333's mailing date, which had been missing.

Shall I add late July filers with early August NoA dates? If that's useful for a fuller picture of August filers I'll happily add them.

Does anyone know if any August filers have gotten an RFE? I'll add that info if so.
