@AustinCanada - I just signed up for the USCIS account... not hard and they immediately route you through a questionnaire that told me I wasn't eligible to apply for citizenship (which I'm not, yet - one of the questions asks when you became a permanent resident - so it even does the math for you - which is pretty cool, actually.) If I had gotten my permanent residency before October 17th 2014, I bet I would have qualified to start my application online!

Can you log onto your USCIS account again when you're eligible to apply for N-400?  :idea:

Maybe you can update your address online if you move to a different state?  :star:

After reading a few posts on the N-400 June 2016 Filers group, it seems faster to apply it online so I might submit an online N-400 application!  :whistle:

Yes, I should be able to just log in again when I'm eligible... and I suspect that, since they've only just begun doing online N-400s it will be a little faster... after awhile when people get used to it, it's kind of a wash - but at first it seems to speed things up a little (our gang was still a little quicker with the CR1 online, but those after us are about the same, online vs mail). If the system lets you file online, I'd do it.

I think I still have to do the online AR11 when we move (in a few days! Argh! Packing! *well, procrastinating on VJ!) and then I'll have to wait til Nov 1 to submit N-400 (3mo in AZ) but again, if it lets me do it online I totally will!

Incidentally, to all, the account you have to sign up for to submit N-400 electronically is a different one from the account you have to check your case status.... of course it is. But it only takes a minute to sign up so don't worry.

What exactly did you send that made it so heavy?

I thought for the N400, the amount of evidence to send was minimal:

1. Copy of Permanent Resident Card;
2. Marriage Certificate (if applying based on marriage to a US Citizen);
3. Proof of US citizenship of US spouse;
4. IRS certified tax transcripts for the past 3 years.

What else is there to send?

F-1 Visa: Academic years 2007/2010.

K-1 Visa: I-129F sent Aug 2013; Approved Jan 2014.

Green Card: AOS sent Feb 2014; Approved Jan 2015.

Removal of Conditions: I-751 sent Nov 2016; Approved Apr 2018.

US Citizenship: Application sent Nov 2017; Fingerprints Nov 2017; Civics/English exam March 2018; Oath May 2018.

You also need to provide proof of an ongoing relationship for the past three years - it ends up being a lot of paperwork (and weight).

Where exactly is that mentioned in the official N400 application/instructions page?

The above certainly applies to the ROC (that's exactly what it's there for), but as far as the N400 goes, my understanding is that you only need to prove you're still married and that you filed taxes together (married filing jointly or separate).

I'd be curious to see if any official sources mention anything in terms of proof of relationship other than the document I originally listed.

Please let me know.

F-1 Visa: Academic years 2007/2010.

K-1 Visa: I-129F sent Aug 2013; Approved Jan 2014.

Here's the Document Checklist as per USCIS website/guidelines:
https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/article/attachments.pdf

Form M-477 mentions the following:

2017-07-30_edited.thumb.jpg.8febba2704d1ba34b5660375f9978bf6.jpg

The option I mentioned is (4c): An IRS tax return transcript for the last 3 years, easily downloadable from the IRS website, or sent to you via mail by the IRS if an online account is not set up.

If you read form M-477, it says -or-, but I included it all just like for the ROC - but I added more since it's been another year.. So yeah, quite a lot of weight.. I'm sure you can get away with less - but why not give them enough so they don't ask for more.

Yes, it does state that your Green Card must have been issued by Oct 17, 2014 in order to apply online!  :cry:

However, the date may change when you're ready to apply it since I was browsing the N-400 June 2017 Filers group and they got a different date (Sept 27, 2014?).  :)

I'm curious to know if I'll be able to apply online when I'm ready in three weeks.  :no:  I'll print out my applications and put them together meanwhile.  :wacko:
