@AustinCanada - I just signed up for the USCIS account... not hard and they immediately route you through a questionnaire that told me I wasn't eligible to apply for citizenship (which I'm not, yet - one of the questions asks when you became a permanent resident - so it even does the math for you - which is pretty cool, actually.) If I had gotten my permanent residency before October 17th 2014, I bet I would have qualified to start my application online!

Something tells me that some lazy workers at VSC picked the box of applicants that looked "easier" (or lighter) without checking the dates and processed them?   This happened during the I-130 process since my application was skipped and they processed applications with later dates!

I hesitate to put forward theories of sophisticated strategical thinking at USCIS, but I wouldn't be entirely surprised to learn that a manager at VSC was trying to keep their 3 month average I-751 processing time under 12 months and was purposefully processing a bunch of August petitions ahead of July to buy themselves some time.

I wonder if that's the system that USCIS officers use.     In other words, I wonder if they check our printed-out N-400 applications and data-entry the info into the online system.    If so, it'll save them time!

Maybe!   Maybe not!  

 

Since I've worked in many disorganized offices, I have a feeling that USCIS is much more disorganized than we think!

Sure, I wish that USCIS could get their collective act together and process our files, but that doesn't mean I'm any less happy for the people who are getting approved! Congratulations to them, and let's try not to resent them for something that none of us has any control over!

Few days. Very often both come on the same day.

Will applying for citizenship speedup the process? Or should I wait to get my GC before I apply?

 

From what I see here, applying for citizenship means another year of having an extension letter and waiting and waiting...? I'm almost eligible to apply for N400. Is there anyone here who haven't applied for N400?

Honestly, no one knows if it will speed up the process or not. We all just speculate. Most haven't applied for N400's yet, as the window just opened. I applied this past weekend and have payment pending on my CC. I'm hoping to have this process behind me and be fully finished in time for next year's election!

The good news is that you'll probably get approved before I do!  

 

You sent your I-751 and N-400 applications before I did!    Our citizenship applications are processed at the Seattle office!  

 

So you'll get the good news before I do....     Unless....I get to know someone working at the Seattle office!    Then, my application may get processed before yours!
