Makes sense in that scenario, but it still feels kind of weird, so by the time they get to the August pile, I will have filed my 400, so they will just skip mine because it will have been combined??

That's what I'm hoping to find out by browsing the "I-751 June 2016 Filers" group in the next 30 days.

Some of them have applied for N-400 while their I-751 applications at CSC are still pending (and they were told that their applications were put into the same file).  :reading:

If their I-751 applications get approved, it means USCIS is processing their applications separately.     If USCIS skips them, that means they have combined their I-751 and N-400 applications.

I think my ultimate goal is to not have to worry about this anymore. if thats a gc or citizenship doesn't matter to me. Ultimately citizenship gives you the least amount of worries in terms of immigration - but jury duty and other ####### may create other worries - thats why I've been thinking if I should or shouldn't do it.

i have everything ready aside from the N400 filled out - which is a 30 minute job.. still debating.. :)

As a US citizen, you're supposed to report your income tax even though you live in another country.  :(

But..you won't lose your permanent resident status if you become a US citizen and live in another country for longer than 6 months.

You'll be able to apply for jobs that only US citizens can get!  :dancing:   It may be an important thing if you live in (or are planning to move to) a city like Washington DC.

Yes, good catch. Either way, I do not have a choice in my situation. It will be interesting, if they do combine it, at least I would like to know if it is combined, i would probably find that out by service request. Otherwise, I will be kept in the dark until 11 months from August, the uncertainty of it will be dreadful.

It'll take 9 months to become a US citizen in my case at the Seattle office.

If I apply next month, I may be able to become a US citizen before my extension stamp expires in July, 2018 (if I'm not going to receive a 10-year Green Card).

Jepp! (Studied & lived in Sweden before.) Best of luck whichever way you decide to go!

A June filer named Hungandnu was so sure his 751 and 400 would be combined, and he just got 751 approved earlier this month. He applied his 400 after his 751 was pending for over a year. Here is his quote. "

would like to give you some ideas about N-400 & I-751 of mine:

I applied for  N-400 in 06/06/2017 while my I-751 is still pending over 1 years.

I had an infopass on 05/21 to ask about my I-751 and needed the stamp on my passport for one year extension. Nothing was updated ...! And then I had an infopass on 06/08 to change my home address and asked about I-751. Nothing was updated ...!

One more time on 07/05 I had an infopass to ask about I-751. That time was stress because the local officer told me that my I-751 was hold to combine a interview with N-400. She printed the notice of USCIS to show me that my I-751 was returned to the agent USCIS local office to review (with N-400) on 06/09/2017 after I applied N-400.

So that I was sure 100% it's be combined interview with N-400 and taking another year to wait for processing, I guessed.

But I got the approval notice from the USCIS local office on 07/09 (I went to infopass on 07/05).

Please try to do whatever you want to do or can do in your best.

From now on, I trust in myself and keeping to go ahead one way. "                 So there you go. It is interesting.

I was browsing the "I-751 June 2016 Filers" postings.    I noticed that there were a couple of filers who applied for N-400 while they were waiting for their 10-year Green Cards.  :dancing: They were wondering about their I-751 case status so they made service requests and had InfoPass appointments.  :clock:  They found out that USCIS put their I-751 applications in the same folders with their N-400 applications, and USCIS told them that the both applications would be adjudicated at the same time (which means they will probably have to wait until their citizenship applications get processed).

I'm going to wait to see if their I-751 applications will be approved in the next 30 days.  :reading:  I don't think we have enough information to see what USCIS will do since it's kind of an uncharted territory.  :help: Most I-751 applications took only 6-10 months until recently so few people applied for N-400 while their I-751 applications were pending.  :bonk:

What is interesting is that hungandnu got his 751 approved shortly after USCIS received his 400 application. That seems to be the best case scenario of triggering the adjudication of 751 due to the filing of 400, it could be an anomaly, it could be an exception, but it does confirm the possibly of their not necessarily combining the 2 just because you filed 400 while 751 is pending. Of course, we would like to see more applicants' stories to determine the likelihood.

Very likely that his I-751 was approved just coincidentally apart from N-400. More than a year, it's about time, right?

Yes, but he is a VSC filer. VSC is going the normal speed which CSC is not.
