No, you can't as far as I know. They only do 551 about a month before your expiration is about to expire

They won't issue you the stamp that early, they always say roughly about a month before the expiration. I talked to an USCIS agent, she told me that and my lawyer told me the same thing. Just curious, why do you need it early? It is not something we can just demand whenever we want..

Got it. Thanks. It's because we'll have plans to be traveling outside the country for about three months, starting two months before the letter expires. I wonder if plane tickets would be enough to convince them?

Yes, you can try and just explain to them about your situation and see what happens.

It depends on the office and on the individual officer. But you have nothing to lose (except a few hours of your time) to go in and ask, and a whole lot of peace of mind to gain!

Right. Thanks for the encouragement! Just worried that if we've already bought the tickets, they might still refuse and then we'd be out of luck.

I guess we could make an even earlier appointment just to ask about it. But I wonder if they might not tell us the same thing as whoever we have to see later to get the stamp anyway. I wish the office wasn't an hour and a half away. :-/

Good luck, keep us updated. The new update of the processing times is frustrating as if they are just stuck in last June...

Hope this will give you some hope. This is a quote from the USCIS guidelines for the adjudicators, updated as of this Feb .              Spouses with Pending Petitionsand Naturalization Applications 
https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume12-PartG-Chapter5.html
"An application for naturalization may not be approved if there is a pending petition for removal of conditions. If an applicant’s petition to remove conditions is pending at the time of filing or is filed prior to the interview, USCIS will adjudicate the petition to remove conditions prior to or concurrently with the adjudication of the naturalization application. [6] "

Does anyone know whether the one month before NOA one year date is a firm 30 days or not? Our is dated August 12th, but there are InfoPass appointments at our local office available for June 29th - wondering if it's too early to go in.

I'm wondering how strict they are about this too. I'll let you know if I learn anything.
