I've been looking around on the forum and reading the threads from other months... They've just updated their list and there's also one person whose name wasn't on their list who got approved on Monday.

That's great news!    If CSC is processing June applications, they may be able to process our CSC cases in May!  :dancing:  Fingers crossed!

Hey everybody - I read on another thread that USCIS is now acknowledging the confusion regarding when exactly the extension letter expires, and as far as we know, they will allow us to make an infopass appointment to get the I-551 stamp 11months after the date on the letter. For example, my letter has the date July 17, 2016, so anytime after Aug 18, 2017, I can get the stamp. Loophole closed, I can visit my family this summer, whether or not I have my new greencard! Whee! :D

Thanks.

Fingers crossed. When we get an update next time, hopefully they will be handling cases close to July, but there's just no way of knowing. I just have this feeling for the 2016 August filers, we will have to wait for another 3 to 4 months.

I've been following this thread for a while but decided to just now chime in.

First, I would like to encourage everyone to stay positive. Complaining or having negative thoughts won't help your case, or ours. Like our friend 'nightingalejules' I also have been following other filers from the months of May, June and July and it seems there is a vast majority of cases from may that are registered here already approved. Few cases in June and one lucky lady who filed in June/July last year and got approved in 3 months (don't ask me how).

We are at the end of March and they seem to be working on June filers, so I believe April and May will be our window. I am positive everything will transpire accordingly and I have my fingers crossed as they received my application on Aug 2nd.

Let's encourage each other up and keep updating with any news. eh?

I totally agree. We just have to be patient. I filed mine on 8/4, and they got my application on the 8th. Hopefully the next processing times update will move us closer to July filers. Let's keep each other in the loop.

The process does seem to be dragging on but even with current delays, we should all have our I-751s approved before the one year extension expires. I feel like we're in a virtual waiting room that takes months and months - but at least there are lots of friends!

I don't know what's more exciting - getting the ten year GC or getting ready to apply for citizenship!

Is the one-year extension letter an extension from the date of green card expiration, or from the date of the letter itself?

Officially, it's the date of the green card expiration, but even some of the people who answer the phones at USCIS seem to think it's from the date of the letter.

The most recent info is that the actual USCIS officers at the field offices take it to mean the date on the green card + 1 year, and won't give you an I-551 stamp until the month before that expires. Of course it is confusing and unclear, so it is possible that another field office might interpret it the other way. And there have been some stories that people were delayed at the border during the "grey area" between the date on the letter + 1yr and the date on the greencard +1yr. I haven't heard of anyone getting refused, though... just delayed but eventually allowed into the US, which suggests that the greencard date is correct.

Nonetheless, I'm planning to try to get the I-551 stamp early if I'm going to have to travel out of the US during that window.
