Keep trying! It took me 10 days to get an appointment at Sf field office last Nivemeber. It is totally discouraging, I know, but hang in there. Try to get the appointment on early mornings like 5-6am,   or late at nights after midnight (1-2 am) also on weekends (very early in the mornings or late at nighttime too)

It is a mess, and now the government has shut down, it is unclear whether the shut down is going to affect USCIS, the uncertainty could even be bigger.

The last time this happened (or almost happened under Obama) it didn't seem to affect USCIS (since it's part of homeland security and thus considered "essential" - also since USCIS is self-funded (through our fees), they're supposed to be protected from shutdowns). So it probably won't have too much of an impact on us.

This article explains what will and won't be affected - essentially, the only things affected are some "feeless" labor applications... which is to say, not us (who pay through the nose to wait for a year and a half!)

On December 27th, 2017, my case was outside of normal processing time, so I decided to go ahead and inquire with CSC about it. I received the typical "we will let you know in 45 days".

 

On January 17th, 2018 my status changed to APPROVED and on January 19th, 2018 they mailed my card. 

 

No RFE, No interview. Divorce waiver.

I finally received my 10 years green card last Saturday.

I filed on July 15th.

They received and NoA on August 3rd.

Fingerprint in October 13

Envidence request on early December.

Case approved on January 10

Received greed card on 20 January.

 

totally processing time is 18 months.

 

thanks for people in this forum sharing their experiences. I learned a lot.

Hey y'all! 

I received today a letter saying my ROC has been approved, and I am considered a PR as of the date of my original admission, and that I should receive the card within 60 days. Date of decision Jan 17/2018. My case was received originally August 26 2016. I originally filed jointly with my spouse. We later separated and I sent in a letter in July 2017 letting them know I had divorced, why and with evidence, asking to switch to a Divorce Waiver. No RFE or Interview. Thank you everyone here at VJ...it's been a long journey. 

 

One question tho if anyone has any idea... My New classification symbol on the letter is IR1. Do you think that is because that's how I originally gained status so i will be classified like that untill Citizenship?

Congratulations! Your case gives me hope! I same as you sent my joint ROC and then had to switch it to a waiver! I hope I have a smooth approval too! Question, when you sent your letter did you also send the divorce decree?

Glad I can give you hope. I know how stressful this wait has been especially under this circumstance. I did, and they are going to want the finalized degree, I waited till I got it to send my package. If you didn't send you will either get an RFE or possible interview IMO.

IR-1 is the classification for an "Immediate Relative" unconditional permanent resident. Previously you had CR-1 (Conditional). So yes, you keep the IR-1 classification until you naturalize.

 

People who immigrated after they'd been married at least 2 years got the IR-1 classification right out of the gate, and didn't have to go through ROC.

Thank you very much for the response! I did send in mine too. Hopefully, I hear back soon. I am a September 2016 filler!
