You are welcome. I can feel your emotions, unfortunately USCIS is unpredictable and CSC is too slow going at a snail pace. I can say you never know when CSC going to pick up but you and many other applicants who filed in August-2016 with CSC is waiting too much with frustration. I am just hopeful and optimistic. I can't wait for that today to see you become U.S citizen and divorce USCIS forever hhaahhaaaa. Take care and praying for your hubby's health. Regards

Thanks for your support, buddy. I have a feeling that it is going to take a bit longer for CSC to adjudicate August filers, I hope I am wrong because it affects all of us applicants down the road. My 751 has been pending for almost 15 months, and I obviously am not the only one who has been waiting. Good luck to you too, I can't wait for both of us to come here and look back as naturalized citizens, thanks for the prayer, we will stay strong until we get this through, and so will you!

I got my stamp in the passport yesterday. The officer looked at my case and said that because of my N400 application I will most likely not see a 10 year green card - but she also said "Good news - The national Benefits Center started working on your N400 application yesterday (Thursday since this was yesterday)". She said I should keep my eyes open for any interview letter from them in the next couple of weeks. She said that all electronic notifications I may have signed up for are unreliable and not automated. It's up to the officer reviewing a case to update that status. Isn't that weird?

She also told me that applying for N400 delays the I751 because once the officer starts to review I751, and sees there's a pending N400 application, he/she automatically puts it on hold - waiting for N400 to process through instead. So basically what everyone has been saying. Applying for N400 doesn't speed up I751, on the contrary, it slows it down. On the other hand, N400 processes the at the same pace as it should have normally - so if the ultimate goal is N400, you're ahead of the game if you apply while i751 is pending. You will however (most likely) not receive a 10yr green card, which is fine by me I guess.

I don't know how accurate the above info is - but thats what I was told.

You're getting an interview for your combo application!?  :wow:

If so, your case may be one of the fastest ones at the San Francisco office considering that you're a paper filer!

I still would not trust any officer who is not handling the case. They all tell us different stories whether it is on the phone or in person, but at least it seems increasingly likely that we won't he hearing from USCIS until our 400 interview.

I would take what she said about getting your interview letter in a few weeks with a grain of salt, sounds too good to be true, but at least you have confirmed the 751/400 combined adjudication as nearly a fact. Good luck, it will be great if what she told you is true though, that means it could happen to us too and we might get our interview letters sooner than we think, but it still depends on which field office you are dealing with. Good luck.

Why are you freaking out so much about this still Z?

I saw your earlier post about 1 documented case of I751 evaluated at same time as N400.  If that is what you have seen, then ok.  But come on, I know you and you have common sense - a few googles will show a ton of cases where this has happened, and there is a ton of anecdotal evidence of USCIS reviewing the I751, saying approved, closing the file, pulling the N400, and then running the interview based on that.

I know you are frustrated, but keep a perspective on it.  I only just got my I751 2 weeks ago and I’m a June filer.

It will happen.  You will get it.  I know your story better than most, and all about your case in what we shared privately,  and I know why it means so much to you, so I urge you to relax and wait it out, and if N400 comes first, you may be surprised by what happens with that.

Your end game is your citizenship - and you have applied - and application processing - I would focus all energy on that, and kind of put I751 on back burner until it comes around.

I wish you all the best you know that.

Not freaking out, I have just been realistic and keeping my expectations low. Everyone is different when it comes to handling USCIS. It is only human nature, the reason I would or anyone else would like a 751 approval now with or without the pending 400 is just for the moment of piece of mind. The approval of it is a relief of not having to worry about RFE or possible interviews, not that i am worried about them. The approval of 751 absolutely has nothing to do with ideology. Not everyone can be as laid back as you, and especially now you are 751 approved, it is s huge relief for you, and congratulations again. But I thought I had been pretty patient through out all this and am making my mental adjustment. I know there is nothing i can do but it is human nature to feel a bit frustrated after waiting for 15 months and knowing there is a high chance that they will probably skip your pending 751 application to adjudicate later with your 400, nothing i can do, but i think what my ultimate goal is and I really do not need the 10 year green card, I am already feeling better. So I am not sure why you think I am freaking out, and I have focused on my energy 100 percent on 400 if you read my other posts. The approval of 751 prior to 400 would just be a official mental relief that does nothing to change my ultimate goal of citizenship. Appreciate your advice, do i wish I could be 751 approved? Of course, after waiting for so long, but that is only human nature. I wish I could be as laid back as you, but i sure have been trying hard to be positive, laid back and focus on the bigger picture. Just another task of patience, that's all, and I think I am doing ok in that department.

I wonder if it is possible for those of us who applied for 400 with 751 pending to get a 751 approval very close to the 400 interview date without necessarily being combined?? Like a week or two before the 400 interview. I guess it is possible since USCIS is so unpredictable.  However, personally, It is going to sting a little knowing I might be skipped over when others(None 400 751 filers) are being approved, especially after waiting for so long and finding out they are delaying for another 6 months, but I guess I am mentally ready for that because my focus is the 400. It is also unpredictable to know exactly when they are going to get to August..maybe next month, maybe December, I hope they are getting there soon.

I'm okay with that since I have the I-551 stamp (valid until July, 2018) in my passport, and I should be able to become a US citizen before July, 2018.

The only issue is that I may be looking for a new job in 2018 since my current work contract ends in April, 2018 (unless they convert me to a regular full-time employee or extend my contract).  :dead:  If I get a new job while N-400 application is still pending, there is a chance that my new employer thinks I can only work in the US until July, 2018.  :bonk:  If that happens, I'll need to go back to the field office to get a new stamp.

Yes, obviously you need to get s new stamp if that happens and you might have to explain to your new employer about the stamp and what it means.

If you plan on leaving the country or working, make an InfoPass appointment at your local USCIS office. It's quick and easy to make online. They only schedule out two weeks at a time so depending on the office, it might takes a few times to secure an appointment. The rumor is that appointments are posted online around midnight and 2:00am. Once you have an appointment, bring your green card and other documents and you'll receive a stamp for either 6 months or 1 year.

Most importantly, your status hasn't expired. You just need the stamp to prove you can live, work, and re-enter the US.

Oh no - absolutely nothing that dramatic. No, all it means is that you need proof to show your status for work or when leaving/entering the country. Your status hasn't expired and won't, even if you don't get the I551 stamp. The stamp is just another form of proof - like a continuation of the letter or green card that now have expiration dates on them. You're totally 100% fine :)

So, (because I have all kinds of better things to do but I'm also a very talented procrastinator), I started searching for all the people on the CSC July 2016 list who seem to have been "skipped over" in the approval process.

The most recent couple of approvals are from people with NOA dates of July 25. The people who are not showing as approved are:

  • People who filed N-400 (sorry, it doesn't look too good for those people getting a physical 10 yr GC - they'll eventually get citizenship instead)
  • 2 or 3 people who mentioned in-thread that they'd received RFEs
  • Almost all the rest are people who haven't actually been active on VJ at all for months. So it's actually reasonable to assume that some (if not all) of them have actually been approved, and they just aren't visiting the site to update us.

I actually find that quite reassuring, which is why I've shared. It seems like August approvals may finally be not too far away!

Good luck everyone!

July approvals are almost at their tail end for CSC. ...  August anytime now......

Can you make the infopass appointment for the passport stamp AFTER your extension letter has expired?

Extension letter expires next month, but planning trip abroad for Apr 2018. I'd rather save my time off from work for my citizenship interview and oath appointments, and not waste time off to get the infopass stamp. That would be too much time off from work.

Edited by insipidtoast

September 25th: I-130 Emergency petition filed at US Embassy in Lima.

October 3rd: I-130 Petition Approved.

October 10th: Consular Section sent checklist and notification scheduling my spouse's visa interview for November 13th.
