Got my NOA today - it might have been sitting in the mailbox for a couple days... I don't know why, but I'm not feeling as deeply stressed about this phase as I was about the CR1 phase. I suppose that all might change if I get an RFE or something (heaven forbid) but I'm pretty confident all will go to plan this time around.

So I know that the NOA combined with the expired green card extends my status for a year, and that I need to keep the letter and the card together on my person to prove my status, if required. But do I need to start carrying the letter around now, or can I wait until my GC actually expires? I'm imagining just having the GC in my wallet for now is sufficient, and I'll put the letter in there when my card is actually expired. Thoughts?

I understand, I am not nearly stressed like I was during the I-130 phase! :dead: However, once I sent the package I've been checking visajourney often to check on other's updates.

As long as your green card hasn't expired it still is a valid document. I think there's no need to have the NOA on you before the green card expires.

I personally don't carry the green card with me, I think it would be much of a hassle to get again if lost. I just carry it when traveling abroad. Normally I only have my driver's license. Maybe I should carry it but I've never been asked for it, not even when pulled over by a police officer.

A police officer wouldn't know if you are a green card holder or a citizen - and I don't think they would care - else they would be asking citizens for their passport - and like 30% of US citizens don't even own one.

How often do you see a USCIS or DHS Enforcement officer drive around asking for documents? :)

My GC expires on Nov 29, so I will be within the 90 window period to file I-751 form, but do you think it is too early?

Are there odds to have my package return? I´ve just read AnnaMaria had the package returned.

Please advice.

I already have my package ready and I will be sending it out next week on August 31 (regular mail).

Thanks, I had already checked it out and the earliest accepted filing date is August 31.

That is the reason why I will be sending out the package on that date for them to receive it later on

I wouldn't get too upset even if I got an RFE this time since I'm already living and working in the US! :whistle:

[07/29/2017]: Day 00 - Full package sent to Phoenix, AZ lockbox using Fedex 3 day.
[08/02/2017]: Day 04 - Package arrived, signed by E.Dejesus.
[08/02/2017]: Day 04 - NOA
[08/07/2017]: Day 09 - Check cashed
[08/21/2017]: Day 23 - Walk-in Biometrics
[12/08/2017]: Day 133 - In-line for interview
[05/09/2018]: Day 282 - Interview scheduled (text/email notification)
[06/13/2018]: Day 319 - Interview (Recommended approval) - Officer said Oath should be July 12 in Oakland.
[06/25/2018]: Day 331 - Oath letter received, scheduled for oath the 12th of July.

[12/02/2017]: Day 489 - 10yr I-551 (GREEN CARD) in hand

 

AOS from L1 through USC Spouse (instead of work based AOS - PERM approved in May)

AOS Approved in 109 days (5 days after interview). GC in hand in 117 days.

[10/20/2014]: Day 117 - I-551 (GREEN CARD) in hand
