The people we're talking to on the phones are not the ones actually approving our files. "Tier 2"  "Tier 1" it doesn't mean anything, they just work there. With the slow downs likely they've been told to say some sort of summary like- your application is in process and you'll hear back soon. Think of how many similar calls they're getting from people like us wondering what is taking so long. There's no way you're getting accurate specific information. You'll probably never speak to that same person again, so there's no consequence for anything they tell us. I'd take what they say with a grain of salt.

Exactly, I talked to three what so called second tier officers just for the sake of experiment. They all told me different stories, one said I would hear from them by mid Sept, the other said someone is handling it but he said he did not know long it is going to take, the third one just told me it was pending and gave me the same processing times info on line, I asked her if my case has been assigned, she said she could not tell me. I was so excited yesterday because the first officer told me I would hear from them by Sept, but the two officers completely shattered that hope, so the bottom line is, do not trust what they say, take what they tell you with a grain of salt and just wait. Do not get your hopes up, my expectations are low again.

Hello everyone , i haven't posted here but I'm à an August Apllicant .I applied in August 24th 2016 for I751 removal of conditions . At the beginning of the August 2017 I went to my local field office to get a I551 stamp. Last week almost end of August 2017 I received a Notification from Atlanta below and I am confused .

" Congratulations! Your request for the removal of the Conditional basis of your permanent resident status has been approved. You are deemed to be a lawful permanent resident of the United States as of the date of your Original admission or adjustement of status.
You should receive a New permanent Resident card , form I551 ( green card) , within 60 days. Your card will include a mailer, form I-797D , whit important information about your status, responsibilities, and permanent resident service available to you.  ....."

This letter was sent from my Local Field Office Atlanta. I have just call USCIS and the person I spoke whit his telling me that is just a notification and that my I751 application is still pending.

My question is to know if this nofication is regarding the approval of my 10 years Green card? Is it about the i551 Stamp and if yes do they send green card for that?
This is very confusing please help.

The person on the phone is probably looking at old information. If you got the letter, your I-751 has been approved. (Congratulations!!!)

I-551 is the USCIS code for "green card". If you'd needed the stamp, it would have been equivalent to an I-551 (green card). But you won't need it, because you will get your new I-551 (green card) soon!

The phone operators don't actually know anything, it seems. Sit tight, your card is on the way! Whoopee!!!!

Well, you know how USCIS go about things. If you call for the fourth time today and fifth time later you would get an absolute different response which shows their credentials   I am glad you didn't waste time by filling for N-400. Did you get your biometrics notice?

Just called another second tier immigration officer, i just curious to see if they would all be on the same page, and the strange thing is this officer told me something a bit different from the officer i talked to yesterday, one thing he did say is my case has been opened and someone is handling it, but he can't tell me how long it is going to take which is quite different from the officer who told me I would be hearing from them by mid Sept. He said my case has been transferred to NBC and if i don't hear from them by the last week of October, that would be outside normal processing times, and I can call to make an inquiry. He also didn't tell me like some of you said CSC is handling July 22ned applications from 2016, he went by the same processing times update as the one online. Maybe it is too good to be true that i might hear from them by mid Sept, but why would the first immigration officer tell me that?? Strange and a bit frustrating.

Your case has been transferred to NBC!!??  :wow::wow::wow:

Something tells me that some agents give you "good" news to end the call (rather than answering your questions of "Why is it taking so long?")!  :bonk:

I filed my 400 three weeks ago, got the biometrics done yesterday. Filing 400 while 751 is pending is not a waste of time. They might combine the 2 according to their adjudication manual and some anecdotal evidence.

Well, I don't know if it's good or bad and why they transferred your case to NBC in Missouri (if it happened)!  :huh2:

I don't think NBC processes I-751 applications according to https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do.  :reading:

If they're combining your I-751 and N-400 applications, they'll send your I-751 file to the Los Angeles field office (where you have a combo interview), not NBC!

I remember a while ago an applicant got his or her senator involved and CSC responded said they had combined both to adjudication and sent it to NBC. Maybe an anomaly.. Anyway, I still think they will not necessarily combine the two for applicants like us, but you are right, we don't really need the 751 approval soon if our main goal is 400 approval.

Hi there,

I've been reading this forum for a while and I have a question about biometrics. I submitted all my paperwork last year, got the notification August 4, 2016. I never received a letter to get my biometrics done. Is this normal? Back in November 2016, I went to the office and asked about it. They told me I didn't get a notification about doing biometrics "because my case had not been assigned yet". In January I sent an email to USCIS and I got a similar response. What do you guys think?

This seems very worrying. I would go into USCIS field office and inquire again ASAP. Usually biometrics are done around one month after you submit your case
