I don't know how strict other offices are.

But one thing for sure, trying with the system several times ends up showing up an appointment.

For example, I just randomly entered 60601 (Chicago) and a time slot showed up.

So, regardless if other offices will take you or not, personally, I would prefer to try to get an appointment at my local field office by trying several times online. Not because that's what one should do, but just because it is more convenient to go to my assigned field office as it is actually the CLOSEST.  It eventually works.

I think  out of desperation people give up and grab whatever is available first (wherever).

For me, waiting patiently and trying the online system over several days a couple of times a day saves me more time than getting in the car and drive for two hours or more.

Unfortunately, for me the office in St. Louis or in Indianapolis is actually closer than my assigned  field in Chicago, it’s over 3 hours plus the time you have to look for parking and the mess of a traffic you have to put up with is just too much, it’s not practical to be honest. I desperately need to get my extension done so I can go back to the Philippines and see my grandma, she’s sick and she has been asking for me to go back for over a year now. And my extension letter is expiring next week, so yeah I admit I was desperate and got the schedule for Wednesday at 1:40pm in Indianapolis which is amazing, I don’t have to deal with the stress of watching the uscis website all day, which I don’t have the time to do cause I’m working.

Hi everyone,

Congrats to the approved ones!!!

Here's my update, NOA: August 5 for Vermont. We got an RFE, sent the new evidence on september, then I talked to a tier 2 and he told me that I should go to the field office for a stamp just in case in 30 days after the extension is over. So I  went to uscis office as emergency to get my I-551 stamp on october, they said no, go get an infopass. That 30 days things are nonsense etc etc etc. I could get the infopass for december 7, I went there, The officer said our case is waiting for an interview date. I asked why they want an interview, and if there's any problem on our file. He said " They passed a new law so now almost all files are gonna be called for interview, so don't panic about this" He gave me my I-551 stamp for a year. I have no idea what kind of law they passed etc. Honestly didn't wanna look up and make ourselves more anxious. On december 9 we got our interview date for january 10th. Now waiting for our interview.:)

PS: There is still no update about our case online. So I stopped checking case status online.

In fact, there is no law passed yet to conduct interviews for all I-751 applicants, it is simply impossible. The immigration officer gave you wrong information with a complete unprofessional behavior. Since October-1 Adjustment of Status based on employment interviews are mandatory by the USCIS because of red flags and issues in the past.

I agree..  Perhaps there might be a quota that USCIS wants to fill where they will call you for an interview even if there aren't any red flags. I had a friend of mine who they did call for an interview and they were in and out very quick. The interviewing officer didn't really understand why they were called because he couldn't see anything concerning...
