U.K. People :D

we got approved on 28th April!!!!

What kind of timescale were most of you from approval or nvc number to interview...we are getting married week of July 3rd so working out if that is risky :/

thanks

Congrats on getting approved, it's a lovely feeling, isn't it! You are cutting it mighty fine with the week of July 3rd, so you'll have to be on top of everything, but it certainly isn't impossible. The next things you need to do are send off for your police certificate (ACRO can be slow) and give it a week or two and chase for your London embassy (LDN) application number. With these two things you are able to book your appointment at Knightsbridge medical, book your interview and fill out the DS-160 form. From there, you need to give it five business days between medical and embassy interview in order for them to get the medical delivered. Once approved, it can take a couple of days or a couple of weeks to get your passport back.

Oh nice, you're well on top of things then! You have to choose your interview date, so once you've scheduled your medical, get on to the embassy site and book it for five or more business days after. 4-6 weeks is nonsense, I had my interview on December 21st and it was back with me on December 30th. At the embassy, it was flashing up saying expect a wait of 17 working days, but the lady that interviewed me said even that was way more than usual. Perhaps they say 4 - 6 weeks to cover their own backs, but no way will it take that long!

That's great to hear thank you!

How long did you have wait from LDN number to interview?

I read somewhere here on here that NOA2 to passport return was around 6 weeks as london embassy is a quick fairly stremlined process :)

I was actually in the USA visiting when my LDN paperwork came through so I did it a fair few weeks after it turned up. Once you have that number you can crack straight on with it. It is a pretty speedy process if you want it to be, the only thing out of your control once you have the LDN number is the wait to get your passport back post-interview. My fingers are crossed for you!

looking advice :)

once my fiancee fills out her i-134 affidavit form can see print it off and then sign it...to them scan it back into the computer to email me to print off. Or does she need to sign and post it to me?

Also all other requirements for evidence can just be scanned to me by email yeah?

Thanks :)

Best practice is signatures should be in ink not scanned. That goes for the I-134 and if an employer provides a letter. Employment verification from an HR Dept might be forms and not personally signed by a person. Those are okay. Pay slips, bank statements, and the like can be photocopies or scans. Tax returns or transcripts can be scans. People have gotten away with many things but you probably ought to get that affidavit in snail mail to be on top of your game.

I believe I am on top of everything and just needing the NVC case number and my fiancée affidavit form.

But can someone point me in the direction of what she required for the medical in terms of forms and then the interview.

thanks in advance and it's much appreciated :D

Everything you need is here. There is a tab specifically for the medical and gathering information for the interview. Schedule the medical the MINUTE you get your case number from the NVC.

Hi guys, congrats to everyone that has been approved so far... My interview is coming up soon... So nervous!

Quick question - I read posts from several people here (and on other sites) to say that you cannot take any electronic devices with you into the Embassy during your interview (i.e. phone / tablet etc.), and should leave them in the store nearby, but on the official .gov website, it states:

"You can bring your mobile phone, e-reader, iPad or other tablet computer during your visit.  But iPad keyboards and other tablet keyboards are not allowed, nor are laptop computers, suitcases and other large bags."

Is this true?

I've also read conflicting things about whether you can take someone in with you (in my case it would be an immediate family member - either mother or father)... Has anyone done this?

Thanks! :)

The electronics thing changed just over three years ago to allow phones and such that you quoted.

There is is a contact form to get your family member on the list to get in. Typically it is spouse , fiancé, or child but you can certainly ask about your parent.  Form https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/iv_contact_form/

"Please provide the date of the appointment and the name of your U.S. citizen spouse or fiance(e) and arrangements will be made for them to be admitted to the Embassy.  They will be required to bring with them photo-id for presentation to Embassy personnel.  Children not applying for visas may accompany you also. If 12 or over, we will require their name and they will require photo-id. Please provide the required information through our contact form.

When completing the form,  please include your case number (e.g. LND2013XXXXXX). Failure to do so will delay our response."

Additionally, this piece is not needed. My fiancée and I were unable to find any such form to notify the embassy that I would be accompanying her to the interview. I literally just brought my passport, asked nicely to be let in, and they let me in. All I had to say was "I am her fiancée and I have photo documentation and proof of citizenship." You can bring food and phones too.

Some American citizens have been able to talk their way in on the day. Others have not. And in the case of the VisaDJ who asked in this thread, he wants to bring in a British citizen.  If anyone hasn't gotten prior approval using the form, I would certainly try on interview day, especially If an American.
