Yes, my fiancée's interview is also the 30th, though at 1:00 PM. We figured that would give us time in the morning (we are interminably late when we are on vacation together) and there isn't a chance we will be running around in a panic trying to get there on time! We didn't plan to originally go the interview together - I have had that week booked for a long time to come to England and properly meet her family (cue all of the anxiety, however welcome the chance is to meet them). And then when she was able to schedule, the 30th happened to be available - the only available date over the week I was visiting. So she chose that day so I would be able to be there with her - I know they'll let me into the interview area for waiting, but probably not allow me at the actual interview.

Good luck Friday, @Chelleyandaaron! I will send good thoughts your way Thursday evening and I can't wait to hear about how it went afterward. So nervewracking...but this part is almost over! We also cannot wait until that visa is in her passport and she has the permission & freedom to just come here!!

You guys getting excited?! Have you got everything ready?

More nervous than excited...but hopefully celebrating by lunch tomorrow! We thought we had everything ready, and went through it all tonight to make sure we had all the required documents. Somehow, for the first time, we both saw that they require copies of everything, and we only have ONE copy of every document that we need. We will be making an early morning copy shop run to make a full copy of all of the required documents... wish us luck!

Congratulations!! Same with us - in and out in about a half hour. Her interview itself was only 3-5 minutes long total, which surprised both of us. It felt somewhat unofficial while we were there - the printer that prints your ticket number wouldn't work and we had to wait around in the lobby for them to fix it, then in the actual waiting area they were cleaning the floor, so all of the blue chairs had been pushed to the back of the room in a jumble and we kind of had to just perch on some random ones. Only 4 or 5 other people were waiting for interviews the same time as us. Quick and easy. We are both so relieved and excited!

Yeah it was a bit of a mess when I was in there and there was only one other person waiting. I'm still in shock. It was such an anti climax haha.

Definitely anticlimactic! She was nervous all morning - wanted to be sure her hair and makeup and outfit were perfect so she looked professional, etc. And we had organized everything and brought additional proof of relationship (tickets/visa stamps to see each other since we submitted the application, copies of our wedding invitations, receipts from purchasing her wedding band, etc)...which they of course didn't want to see. So we felt underwhelmed and overprepared. But I guess better that than not have a form that they did want to see!

I suppose the only thing that could have gone wrong was that we had had the required passport photos made at a chemist in Boston when she last came to visit. She submitted these when asked at the window, but the officer scanning them told her the background was too light and the machine wasn't accepting it. Luckily, at the last second, she had thrown in a couple of extra photos into her bag that she had had taken for our I-129F application and had 2 leftover photos. Because it was within six months that the photos had been taken, the officer scanned those and they were accepted. Don't what to know what would have happened if those hadn't been accepted either! Kind of made me a bit grumpy that the ones we had made IN AMERICA didn't work and the ones she had taken at a random photo booth at a mall in London did work...

They have a photo booth there so that you can take your passport photos. I didn't get the long version of my birth certificate so I thought they wouldn't approve it. Turns out they didn't care too much about it. Phew! All that stress is over now :)

That's alright!! I haven't been on as much either - too many things to do before graduating from my master's program and planning our wedding, so once we had the interview date set I've pretty much dropped off the radar as well. I'm sure I'll be back on this summer when we are filling out the AOS/EAD/AP paperwork!
