Hi all!

Since i'm a little ahead ill help out where i can with my experience. The all important LND number allows you to book your Medical and Interview as soon as you get that over the phone you are good to go. Fill in the DS160 once you get it. 'Packet Three' is simply just a letter advising that london have your case with a URL for the online visa information page, this letter arrives a few weeks following the LND number. Once you have the DS160 completed and all your documents ready i134 etc, remember to complete the 'Readiness' form on the London embassy site. Then you are good to go ahead and book the medical and Interview.

I hope this was helpful :)

That's great - thank you!

I am getting everything ready - applying for my police record today and hope to have my LDN number on Monday.  I filled in most of my ds-160 about three weeks ago one evening when i was feeling itsy and felt as though I needed to be doing something.  My fiance has put the i-134 and supporting evidence in the post so that should be here sometime next week.  How do we book the medical once we have the LDN number? Do we have to complete the rediness info first - or is that when the medical is complete?

I was going to aim for the medical in late March and the interview late April - but now considering trying to get them both done in March (I am going away for 12 days mid-April)..

The readiness is done after you book the medical, on that form it will ask you what date the medical is for. To book the Medical you just call 02074867822 and ask to book a medical for a visa interview and give them the LND number.

As far as i know the K1 is valid for 6 months for a one time entry from the day of your medical. I am hoping to travel around 28th May after i finish university, so I have booked medical for 20th Feb and Interview for 16th March. Your NOA2 is valid for 4 months from the date of acceptance, mine expires 30th march so i was just making sure its all done before then.

I am hoping for my medical around 6th March as I have a really busy work schedule in March and if I don't get it done then it could take ages - and given that I have to fly to London it will eat a couple of days up.  I know my NOA2 date is valid until the 28th May but I'd rather have everything organised sooner so that I can start packing and posting and get my flight booked before the prices surge. This has been really helpful.  Let us know how your medical goes :)  Have you had your vaccinations done by your GP or are you getting them done at the medical?

It will be nice to have all the administration done in advance then you can just relax and make plans :) like I said the Medical date will start your 6 month visa so as long as you travel during that time slot you are free to complete the medical and interview whenever you can.

I will post after the medical to let you all know what to expect. The only vaccine that i needed was a flu jab, i got this in boots a few days ago, I am up to date with everything else. I would suggest getting what vaccinations you can before the medical to make things easier on the day and to get it out of the way.

Thanks to you all! From reading I seem to have much better clarity on the process after we get our noa2 :)

quick question! I'm looking to start my ds-160 and just fill it out here and there whilst I wait for our noa2, did any of you just save it on there website and the login every so often before the 30day mark or is it best to download the form and fill it out then upload come the correct time?

Good of luck to you all, I'm excited for you medicals and interviews coming in fast, hopefully my turn soon :D

So you did need the flu jab?? My fiancée (beneficiary) has never had one, and it's optional as a vaccination in the US as well as the UK - so she and I were wondering whether she would need it or not. But you had to get yours?

I thought so - I have scheduled my MMR with my local doctor's surgery - they kept pushing to find out whether it was for travel and I just said that I was getting married and thought it would be sensible to get it now (they would charge for jabs for travel - I did offer to pay but they said it was okay it was on the nhs).  I am going to get my flu jab at Boots - its only about £13 there I think instead of the extortionate price at the visa clinic.

My DS-160 is causing me a bit of a headache as I can't remember my travel to the US back further than about five or six years - I have been trying to work it out from passport stamps but can't find anything that says that I definitely need to put everything down.  Some people on the forum have said they didn't list everything because they couldn't remember but added a note to that effect on the form. I have my application in for my police record so really hoping to get my LDN number at the start of the week and get my medical in three or four weeks time.

we tried phoning on Wednesday (9 days after approval and they said to call back on Monday - two weeks).  That seems about right at the moment - other cases are taking about 14 days to get to NVC, and then another day to get the case number and despatch to the embassy.  Case ready seems to take about another four or five days - but we can schedule our medicals once we have the LDN  case number so we are nearly there folks!

Highly silly question!

I've been filling out the ds160 to be ahead of the game come noa2 time. When answering the background yes and no q's.

have you visited any/other countries in the last 5 years?

Now is that a 'yes' because I've been flying in and out of the states to see my fiancé or a 'no' because USA is the only country I've visited in the last 5 years?

Sorry for silliness :/ thanks!

just countries other than the US... because you have a whole page to list your previous visits to the US

if the US is the only country you have visited then it's a no.  There is no such thing as a silly question!

So you did need the flu jab?? My fiancée (beneficiary) has never had one, and it's optional as a vaccination in the US as well as the UK - so she and I were wondering whether she would need it or not. But you had to get yours?

yes, I am 21 and the only vaccine that i needed was the flu jab as i have had a tetanus within 10 years and 2 two doses of MMR in the past. flu jab may only be needed during flu season, which ends MAR 31st. My medical which ill be using for AOS is before that date so i thought better safe than sorry.

Good idea. I think my fianceé will do the same if her medical falls before March 31st, just to avoid any complications. This is all so exciting! It's so nice to be able to let ourselves think of these things, rather than just waiting in limbo for the NOA-2, wondering when we will ever be able to go on to the next step. We are meeting up in Boston, Massachusetts this coming weekend (halfway in between for us) to celebrate the NOA-2 and talk about next steps as a couple! I'll keep everyone posted on whether or not there was a change in questioning at customs/immigration after receiving the NOA-2 (in case anyone else is headed stateside before K-1). She has never been questioned coming through immigration, even after receiving NOA-1. But I have heard rumors that they question much more heavily after NOA-2...so I'll let you know!

I traveled after NOA2 and had no more than the usual "do you have alcohol or tobacco", they really were relaxed :)

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey
