hey guys,

I have just got off the phone after trying to find a Civil surgeon!! They said that i require the Vericella

shot also now, Is this true??? I think that is how you spell it? it is the chicken pox vaccination. Can anyone shed any light on this for me.

If you never had chickenpox (latin name "varicella"), then yes you need the shot; otherwise, you can get a lab titre.

Yes, Varicella is the chicken pox vaccination. They do not give it in the UK, but it is required for the vaccination supplement in the US. If you have chicken pox as a kid, the civil surgeon may say that you don't need it, or they can test your blood to check.

My fiancee just went for her vaccinations today. Unfortunately she lost her record of vaccinations and she was expecting to get a slew of shots today. All they did was give her a hepatitis shot, take some blood, and tell her she will need the Varicella vaccination. I asked them several times if this is all she needs to get and they told me yes. For some reason i thought she would need more vaccinations if we had no proof of previous vaccinations. Anyone think i should check with another civil surgeon???? We dont want to send out our ASO and end up getting delayed because she did not get all the proper vaccinations!

My wife (married after she came to the US on a K-1 visa) is from the UK and we just got our vaccination supplement completed. She did not have the varicella vaccine. They asked her if she had chicken pox, and when she said she did, that was all the proof they needed. This took place in Baltimore, and in order to save time and money, I would have contacted other civil surgeons in the area who would only require that the green card applicant have had chicen pox at least once in his/her childhood.

I was asked the same question - I had chicken pox as a child, and that was all I needed to avoid getting the vaccine. :)

26 January 2005 - Entered US as visitor from Canada.
16 May 2005 - Assembled health package, W2s.
27 June 2005 - Sent package off to Chicago lockbox.
28 June 2005 - Package received at Chicago lockbox.
11 July 2005 - RFE: cheques inappropriately placed.
18 July 2005 - NOA 1: I-485, I-131, I-765 received!
19 July 2005 - NOA 1: I-130 received!
24 August 2005 - Biometrics appointment (Naperville, IL).
