I applied for my father to immigrant here Feb 2016 via I-130 (IR-5). USCIS approved it and forwarded it to NVC. All documents have been submitted to NVC, fees have been paid as well. DS-260 was submitted last Friday 7/22. Right now is waiting for NVC's final review.

We are having a situation here. When I immigrated to USA back in 2004, I did my birth certificate and got 3 sets of originals (notarized and translated). One for myself, one for my mother and the 3rd one for my father. My mother immigrated to USA in 2009. Now I'm applying for my father. So I kept the last original set for his application. However I scanned my birth certificate set a while ago and kept in my PC for future use. When I was preparing my father's application, I used copies from my PC since only copies are required.

But when my father goes to interview at local US consulate, he must take all originals including my birth certificate. However I could not find my original birth certificate now! I knew I had it but could not find it anywhere. My father went to that notary office which issued my original birth certificate and asked them whether they could issue another original one based on this copy. But they said 'no'. We have to provide all supporting docs and do a new one. We don't mind paying the fee and do a new one. But it will look different from what I submitted to NVC.

Will that be a problem if my father provides a 'new' birth certificate of mine (notarized and translated) to the consulate at the interview? It basically provides the same information but it may look different compared to the one that was done more than 10 years ago and the picture is different for sure.

Anyone knows? Or anyone has experienced that? Thank you for your input!

He will be in complete compliance with the requirement of having originals of the birth certificate available for inspection. No problem.
