Hi I am wondering if anyone knows what health and vehicle insurance companies are best for married couple when foreign spouse is waiting for the AOS from K-1 Visa. I would also like to know what complications does couple face when they approach to insurance companies.

We just recently submitted our AOS application and ready to get joint health and vehicle insurance. My wife is US citizen and she does not know much about all these stuff and I am new in the states too so It will be good to get some ideas before we start. Thanks

she recently started a new job and is still on probation period for 90 days so she has not looked into it yet at her work. I just asked her to check out tomorrow from her work and see what they say...

I can't really advise you on car insurance, but as for health insurance..

If your wife will be switching to an employer's health insurance more than likely she can obtain coverage for you that way.

Otherwise, your options would be using the state or federal health exchanges (Obamacare). Many of the plans offered are the same as you could buy privately (and they may or may not be cheaper). Your last option would be by buying privately out of pocket from any health insurance provider that is available in your state.

I think the best bet for you guys is to wait for her to get insurance through her Employer and if not, then she needs to buy insurance under the health exchange including you. But for the mean time, god forbid, if you need any medical attention, you be sure you go to Urgent care facilities and not Emergency room unless it is serious. Emergency room can be very costly vs urgent care. Best of luck!
