I already have. I explained his appeal to people many times, including one post within the last 24 hours. Even though neither my wife nor I would vote for him(assuming I even can by then), we try to keep an open mind and not label everyone as racist. You can't tell me you honestly believe half the voters(which is about where things are with polls at the moment) in this country are racist. It would be nice if life was so simple but it's not.

I'm not saying half the country is racist. But let's make one thing clear. If President Obama and Trump switched pedigrees, there's no way in hell Obama could run for President. Period. I broke it down in another thread. Any one of the things people are ignoring about Trump would have disintegrated POTUS in a heartbeat. His comments alone would have killed Obama before he even opted to run. A wife without a college education AND nude pics? Please, don't even bother showing up.

I even ran this by a guy I work with. He's a pure conservative. Even he said, I never thought about that. I said, there's no way Obama could have run on Trump's platform. He said, that's scary. As a white man, he said I've seen folks who say Obama isn't qualified with his experience but Trump has zero and yet he's somehow more qualified? And I said picture Obama running in the same manner as Trump. Tell me he'd get far. His words? No way...

His appeal is he speaks without a filter about demographics that are considered minorities. Something this country longs for. Anyone saying they don't support PC is code for I say racist, misogynistic, and hateful rhetoric. That's the ONLY time it's ever brought up. If you can't articulate your message without resorting to name calling and such, you don't deserve to be running for office.

As far as comparing him to Obama the difference is - if Obama would have shown up the way you described, out of nowhere like he did(not talking about being a senator but the exposure most people had to him before he decided to run), it would have taken people a while to swallow that frog. It's not because he's black - it's just because he's not Trump.

You seem to invest a lot of time excusing Trump...why excuse him? Isn't bad behavior bad behavior? Would you excuse yourself if you said those things ( take your pick) in those ways?

I've talked to quite a few supporters, and none of them can tell my why they like Trump outside of he's a straight shooter or they don't want to vote for Hillary. It's not lazy, but very accurate. I'll show you how. Trump is only popular BECAUSE of what he's said. Because outside of that, what's appealing about him? His track record with business isn't stellar, his insight isn't deep, and the birther mess, he shouldn't have even been given the stage. Even the article Val posted shows that conservatives within the GOP aren't in his corner.

Everything that's pushing him forward has been racially charged. He hasn't made one statement that isn't designed to shock or awe his audience. That's his appeal.
