Hello Folks,

My wife received docs today from NVC asking to move forward and choose agent, pay fees, submit visa app form so on. I got letter from NVC saying my case number and saving we don't have visa number so wait for your PD become CD 8 months ago. MY question is what is requirement of Visa number? Can Visa interview be scheduled without Visa number?

What exactly Visa number is?

I appreciate your response.

Regards,

Ronak

there are a number of visas available for each quarter

you are now in NVC stage and on the list for a number to become available

since this is middle of almost the 3rd quarter looks like you will be waiting for the 4th quater of the year for a visa number

and no, NVC waits for the visa number to become available before they will send to the embassy for the interview

you will need to pay the 2 fees and do the online applications

Thank you for response, so based on the Visa Bulletin for F2A category, I assume my PD become CD in February 2017, so I assume I will eligible to move to States permanently in May 2017, ain't I?

hi

no, the visa bulletin is unpredictable, so then you have to check it each month, after your priority date becomes current, they will schedule your interview

weeks or months can pass, so you shouldn't calculate because there is no exact time when you'll get your visa

as said what is your priority date? your priority date has be become available on the visa bulletin for them to schedule your interview, once your case has been completed

Thank you, 1.5 to 2 years!!!!! It seems long time since the docs that we received yesterday say that after we complete the steps(Choose an agent, pay fees, submit visa application form, collect financial docs, supporting docs, submit docs to NVC) they will review it and schedule an interview.

They have not mentioned about availability of Visa number yet.

Just curious.

Regards,

Ronak

Thanks in advance.

F2A is one of the visa categories that has to wait for PD to be current before an interview will be scheduled. You can check the current state of the visa bulletin here:

Hi,

You have F2a case, LPR petitioning a spouse.

A visa number becomes available when the PD becomes current.

The current PD in the August 2016 Visa Bulletin is Nov. 15, 2014.

Your wife's PD should be current in about 2 years.

There is no way that your wife's PD of June 2016 will be current by the Feb. 2017 VB. There is no way your wife will immigrate by May 2017.

You are looking at the first half of 2018 for your wife's PD to be current.

Best of luck.

My apologies folks, my PD is June 2015, not June 2016, Typo :/

Considering that, can you tell me approx how much time it takes now to get Visa interview? And how long it takes after visa interview to move to States?
