Whoever said there was nothing wrong with Trump. He certainly wasn't my first choice, but hey, that is democracy. My issue is with Hillary, her elitism, lack of conviction, sense of entitlement, and downright corruption. i understand your support of her as the leftist position is the most important thing to you, I feel that economically, this move toward socialism is unsustainable in the long run.

You do realize that this is Trump in a nutshell?

i don't. most flotus nominees tell sappy 'how we met' stories at conventions. i don't understand what rachel found shocking and weird.

It was creepy because if you look at the words being said it comes off astoundingly hollow and 'ewwy', in the context of what we know about Bill. That's all really summed up for me.

An average mom and dad who have been married for 50+ years could tell the story of how they met, and it be received a lot better by critical minds if only because such a couple might be exemplary in their faithfulness and love to one another. In Bill and Hillary's case, faithfulness has been an issue. Of course, all 'wives' tend to give these sorts of speeches about how they met their 'husband running for elected office', but we've turned a new corner, where a husband has to take on this task - but this is a spouse that can't hold themselves to a higher standard in that regard. Maybe Maddow has issues with him talking about Hillary ''as a girl'', but I suspect it's the actual substance of the lines he's saying. You married your best friend Bill? But you also cheated on your 'best friend'.. the 'love of your life'..

Still it's a hard prospect. He'll receive flack for sounding creepy, all the while receiving flack for not painting Hillary as a fierce she-warrior for feminism by maybe not exactly highlighting her personal accomplishments enough, or shrewd intelligence or whatever (but he might receive just as much flack for highlighting that too much)... who knows. He's just a dude up there lovingly talking about his wife, he kind of curb-stomped many a year ago... s'all good.

Trump's no saint in this department of course, probably why they've both avoided those kind of subjects and glowing language thus far.

I read a few passages to my husband, he gave me a wide-eye'd look and chuckled... ''it sounds like he's writing a tame version of 50 Shades...'' :P

i've never been interested in bill cheating on hillary. maybe that's why i don't find it creepy. the way i see it, bill and hillary are still married. bill went outside of the marriage, but they didn't split. they're still together. all of his lying in testimony about it aside, strictly looking at the oath of marriage and considering the odds of achieving total monogamy for 41 years OR the odds of infidelity ultimately destroying a union, i'd say they both come out looking like a couple of long-time married republicans.

trump on the other hand, with all his wives and baby mommas...he looks like a perpetually divorced-when can i trade in my third-anthony weiner is a personal hero of mine, democrat. :content:

Comrade might upgrade to a new model soon. Putin needs a little botox and a wig, but could work. Better be careful though, because hell hath no fury like a Putin scorned.

the 'extraction economy' we're currently suffering is certainly not sustainable. how do you think trump will reverse this?

So your solution to this is to elect a leader that is the very elitist that drive us further to an extractive economy? I know, the DNC is so inclusive, but their leadership is the very thing Acemoglu and Robinson are talking about. The Dailykos of course puts all the elitism on the RNC, but that is to be expected. Both sides have their leadership class, and that is why I like Trump more than Hillary, he is not part of that class.

In this book we will argue that the Egyptians in Tahrir Square, not most academics and commentators, have the right idea. In fact, Egypt is poor precisely because it has been ruled by a narrow elite that has organized society for their own benefit at the expense of the vast mass of people.

Once again, you do realize Trump is part of the elite, right? He's not a working class businessman. He was born into money, spent his early days sleeping with models and comparing it to those who fought in the Vietnam war, denying people of color the chance to live in his apartments, creating ties to the mob, allegedly messing with underage girls, and that's what we know about.

Trump is every bit of what you can't stand in Hillary. Maybe more so...

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

the economy isn't partisan, and trump is a product of elitism and has rode the wave of extraction economy to halfass like 6 or 7 ventures that have completely failed. you know why such poor decisions haven't damaged the overall trump brand? it isn't his work ethic.

It is amazing to see all the liberals in such a tizzy.

I personally find it very entertaining myself. Grab the popcorn.

Here's the difference. Folks here that are leaning to the left have no issues with saying she's a poor choice of a candidate. Her various missteps are well known, and if we had ANY other options(Sanders) I'd vote for him in a second.

"Leaning to the left" and Sanders(most leftist dem running for pres like ever) do not really go in the same sentence(yes buddy, 3 months are up).

I don't believe he was most people's first choice for general election voters. I think part of his appeal(on top of the obvious we all have talked about before non PC, etc etc) is that when it comes to certain things, mostly social, some even economic, he's more to the left than most conservatives. He actually isn't really even one(although he now calls himself a "common sense conservative") which is why some actual conservatives such as Glenn Beck consider him a huge progressive. But that helps him, because for people that can't stand Clinton but under other circumstances would have never voted for a really socially and economically conservative GOP runner, Trump is far enough from that for them to at least consider him as an alternative to her. But some here will tell you anyone who will vote for him must just be an uninformed, racist bigot. It makes life simpler I guess.

He definitely won't. He's part of the same machine.
