Folks,

My parents dont have a birth certificate. So as per NVC reciprocity guidelines, I sent in their copies of School leaving certificate (high school diploma) and the Birth certificate not available document from the Municipality.

Now I get a checklist stating the document submitted do not fulfill the requirements. I called them and spoke to them about this. They are telling me to resend both the documents again but this time with a letter explaining thats all i have for Birth certificate. Plus she is going to send a note to the supervisor to re review them.

I don't understand how this agency works. When I have sent in the correct documents, why are they requesting again? First they take 6 weeks to review and now 6 weeks again to review this one. Is this a joke ?

In my case I had similar problem. Original birth certificate did not have the full name on it. So I wrote a letter explaining that I have provided other documents such as School leaving certificate, Baptism certificate etc and I got my case complete.

In you case they do have Birth certificate not available document from Municipality. This should be enough. May be you can call NVC again and try to explain them the situation and tell them you have sent the necessary documents. May the the rep might be little friendly and would help?

If you send the documents again. Yes It will take up to 30 -35 days to review your document.

Yes i did. Called them twice. The most friendly thing she did was that she said she could send a note to the supervisor to re review the docs. She said even that can take 6 weeks.

What really upsets me is that what kind of people work there who review the documents. Are they purposefully trying to delay the case since they may not have the slots at the consulate ?

The documents are right there as per the NVC guidelines and they still want it resent. Totally Frustrated!!!!

No I don't think so. May be they really missed it. Operator can only tell you what they see and they have their standard guidelines so they say 6 weeks. Some people got through supervisor review within a week and some more than a month. So it all depends.

I know this process itself is so frustrating but at the end we just want to be with our loved ones. Hope you get your CC soon.
