I did file a 2015 tax return but I accidentally left it at the house when I flew out to Vietnam. I filed as married filing separately because it was too difficult to do jointly without her ssn. I do think your not leagally required to file if you make under $10k.

That's correct about under $10k and you have a joint-sponsor so it should not be a problem. Congrats on the visa approval. By the way, which medical facility did your wife chose for her medical examination?

We wanted to go to IOM I think it's called, but ended up going to cho Ray because she couldn't get an appointment in time. She had no issues with cho ray though.

Me and my fiancee got the blue slip as well, but we were met with a incredibly rude CO. Didn't look at the documents, figured they made up their mind and me being there in person didn't help. Understandably, we're both a young looking couple. I'm 32, she's 23, but I look like I'm 20. So they want every document notarized, they want a family history from both sides. That poses a problem for me since my family is very small and no genealogy search engine gonna bring them up since the majority of them are dead, but her family is huge and she has a sister in America. They also wanted to know everything about her sister in America, what she do, what type of business, how big is the house, etc.

The interview was 5 mins long and the waiting was 2 hours. CO thought that the marriage wasn't legit because she had a relative in America. Completely bummed out, but will file the extra paperwork they requested to see if they change their minds about us. I figured 2000 photos over 3 trips, plus an engagement ceremony, meeting the entire family, etc. having all the receipts and paperwork they requested as outlined with VJ and USCIS, this would be a breeze. Guess not.

I'm glad I read your update because it gives me hope.

Congratulations, TylerTrúc. Did you have to register with a courier for passport return? The last time I was looking at that, the link from the consulate's site to the courier's site was broken.

After your visa is approved you go over to the EMS desk and set up the passport delivery. You can ask for expedited shipping. We received the passport in 3 business days in HCMC.

My wife has 2 aunties in US and one in Canada and there was no issue. I think it ends up being a totality of circumstances.

Just give them what they need and hope for the best.
