Just picked up my vaccination history and one of the needed vaccinations for the AOS is Varicella/Chickenpox and apparently the London medical centre or NHS don't provide this.

I know you can say you've had chickenpox in the past however I am unsure and so are my family, I have been around people with chickenpox and not caught it but this isn't proof I've had it.

A lot of people say to try and get vaccinations before you arrive to USA due to pricing etc or is this the only option?

Also would I need a booster on Polio as my last booster was almost 10 years ago?

Thanks in advance

Two choices--

1) Pretend you had chickenpox

2) get the shot in the U.S. And have a civil surgeon sign you off on an I-693.

The reason to get the shots before the visa exam is to maybe get free shots on NHS. That doesn't work really in a country that does not stock Varicella. And to try and avoid paying a civil surgeon fee in the U.S.

Adults don't need polio vaccine. Are you maybe thinking Tdap? p is pertussis.

Ah thank you. Was just looking on records and it states First, second, third DTP(triple)+Polio then a booster (DT(double)+polio) 10 years later. So i guess that would need the booster before medical then?

No more P (pertussis) needed so Td (Tetanus/diphtheria) is the booster called for if your last dose was more than 10 years ago, So if nothing since 2006, you're due.

You could also ask for a blood test from your gp, which will confirm if you have had chicken pox or not. I had it done for a previous visa for the U.S. In 2009 and used the same result for the medical in June. I just said it was for immigration purpose and my gp order a blood test to be taken at the local hospital.
