Who should write affirdavits of bonafide marriage

Hello everyone

I am preparing to apply for 10 years green card sometime in August. I have two friends who know me and my husband very well and we hang out a lot. My two friends are a married couple and my question is would that be alright if a married couple write two affidavit letters for us ?

They could write affidavit letters for you, but the letters are only considered as secondary evidence.

I'd suggest picking just 1 person in the couple to write it otherwise it'll seem redundant. Pick the one you've known longer and that person can speak about your relationship with his/her significant other

Both people or one person from the couple can write one. We had the same dilemma in our case where the couple is friends with us, but we only requested the one person who knew us longer to write. Yes, affidavits are secondary in nature but you can include them if you wish.

It would be redundant that a couple write two separate affidavits. Obviously the same couple will not write different things about your relationship. Have someone else write a second one. Good luck!

We had the same thought. We had the husband of one couple write one affidavit for us, and another really close friend (the wife of another couple) who knows us very well write another. It's probably best to have a little variety with two different people with different last names, addresses, etc.

And I don't think it'd matter that the same person who wrote the affidavit for the original GC write another for the 10 year one.

2. Anybody can write an affidavit and get it notarized. I could write one and put my brother's name address and number on there and get him to show up at the notary.

Therefore, it is weak evidence.

I think it's weak evidence in the sense that if you can get, do include, if you cannot get, don't worry.

I had a clergyman and a marriage counselor write the affidavits for my case, in the belief that those weigh more than friend's and families. Yet I still get an RFE regarding lack of financial evidence. May serve as evidence that finances weigh a lot more.

An affidavit is, by definition, notarized. Otherwise you are just submitting a signed statement.
