Well folks, the time has finally arrived.

On August 2, the new owners of my house take possession, and I drive my U-Haul across the US border!

I'm beyond nervous, and excited at the same time.

This will be my first time crossing the border with my CR1 Visa, and I'll admit to major butterflies in my stomach.

The Customs folks have a lot of power, and in the back of my mind, is a little voice that says "what IF they decide to not let you cross?".

I know the likelihood of that happening are slim to none (I'm so squeaky clean, I'm boring). But, like they say, nothing is guaranteed.

I think just talking about it makes me feel a little better.

Wish me luck folks!

Good luck!

Word of advice, if you're driving a big u-haul truck, take it easy. They can be a bit cumbersome to drive. I tend to hold to the right lane and no more than the speed limit when I drive these beasts. If you're pulling a u-haul trailer behind your car, then stop and check the hitch at various points to make sure it's still nice and tight.

Good idea! Yeah, I'm driving my pickup and hauling a 6x12 trailer. I'll be checking connections periodically!

Not sure if this is something you'd find therapeutic, but start putting together a playlist for your road trip, whether it's music or audio books. In the evenings when you're not organizing and planning is when all things worrisome tend to come out to taunt you, and that's exactly when you should do something fun like a playlist compilation! And talking to your sweetie of course. (L)

Congrats and good luck! We're all rooting for you here!

Hello everyone, from the great state of Utah!

I am so sorry I haven't been on since I originally said I was leaving.....it's been hectic, and then I just plain forgot.

When I crossed the border, it was very uneventful! All in all, about an hour to go through, and that's including them looking over my truck and reading my packing list (luckily they didn't open the trailer...as contents shifted, and it was SO hard to open....would have been a nightmare!)

My wife and I stayed at our friend's place for a few months, until I was able to get a job.

I got a GREAT job with the Salt Lake School District, and we moved into our own apartment in December.

I was worried for nothing! I even had my nephew and niece bring the rest of my belongings in Oct, by Uhaul (he had absolutely no issues!!)

I would like to thank everyone for their support through this whole process! Without your guidance, it would have been very daunting indeed!!!

So, if there are any of you in the Salt Lake City area, reach out to me! I'd love to say hi :)
