Harrasful mother in law. Can I request to expedite I-130?

I have a question on whether I could ask to have my petition for my husband and child expedited in my case. Here's a background:

I have a mother in law who is sometimes out of her mind, she has caused shame on my and my family. She has been giving out threats and has been parking her car outside our house which is starting to scare us, she has been throwing paper with all sorts of nasty things written about us. She is no longer of sound mind and She has been harassing us and has caused trauma to my child. I will be filling the i-130 and was wonderig if they give priority to cases like this? Extremely unlikely. Expedites are very rare and when they are given it is for life-or-death situations (I personally know a family where an expedite was granted for a child as the father was due to have a liver transplant and there was a strong possibility he would die).

She scares you because she parks outside your home? There are ways to deal with this - one of them is to have a restraining order filed against her which prohibits her from contacting you or coming to your house. If you feel she has done something criminal, call the police and have her arrested. If you feel she has mental health issues, call a mental health professional.

But they won't expedite a visa case because you don't like your mother-in-law.

I'm sorry but it sounds like this will not be an expeditable case. Your mother is law is erratic - that is not a reason to expedite.

I do hope you are not reading those notes to your child. I hope that is not the reason for the trauma to your child.

Have you inquired about getting your Mother-in Law help? Perhaps from a church group or other family members? Perhaps that is a better, long term solution.

No that is no reason to expedite. If you feel truly threatened, you may need to go to the police, or move within the country and not let her know your new address. Of if she is only attacking you, you as the US citizen can move back to the USA and your husband can wait out the visa in his country.

On the good news front, if you live in a country where DCF is available, your case will go much quicker than the usual 1 year for a CR-1 anyways.

I second the DCF route. We did that and we were in the US 5 1/2 months later. Had we not gotten 2 RFEs we would have been done in 2 months!!
