Hi guys,

This vaccination process for AOS is driving me crazy. My fiance (now husband) had his medical in Haiti on April 15. They refused to give him any vaccines, saying they weren't required for entry on a K-1. They gave him a blank DS-3025, signed by the physician who did his medical, and on the back it says "Not Vaccinated (K-!)." But then they told him that when he gets his vaccines in the US, they would fill out the rest of the form.

What???? How can somebody else finish filling out a form that the Haitian doctor already signed? We went to the health department on Wednesday and he got the required shots. So now he has a separate record signed by the nurse at the health department. I am assuming that there is no way we can just attach this shot record to the DS-3025 that we have?

I'm still looking for a civil surgeon who is willing to transcribe the shot records without requiring a new medical exam. But so far I haven't had any luck. One place I called wanted to know if he had been tested for syphillis. Um, how would we know exactly what they tested since USCIS has the I-693? We never saw any medical results. And they also asked about a PPD...doesn't a clear chest x-ray take the place of a PPD?

This is the only thing holding us back from filing. Grrr. Wish they just would have given him the vaccines in Haiti!

Keep looking for a civil surgeon that is willing to fill out only the vaccine part of i693. He's most certainly been tested for both syphilis and tuberculosis, because he wouldn't have received a visa without a negative result on those. The only part of the medical exam that (unfortunately) can be waived for K1, is the vaccines.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.
