Do I need to schedule my interview before I can take medical examination?

Is it required that I SCHEDULE my interview already before I can take my medical examination? Or do I just need the confirmation that I CAN schedule an interview?
This is a bit of a problem for me due to my VERY irregular menstrual cycle. I don't want to have to re-schedule my interview in case my medical examination takes a bit longer to complete (be asked to come back and all). I've read that the interview can only be re-scheduled twice (and after might take you longer, or worse, put you on blacklist).

I would love to get some feed back from people who have recently done this. And thank you in advance. :dancing:

Forgive my ignorance, but this is the second time recently that I've seen someone worried about their menstrual cycle messing with the medical. Why is it a concern? Will they not do medicals at that time of the month or something?

From what I understand, when you pick up your packet from the embassy, the one that has all of the forums, they give you a date for your interview. In that packet you should have a list of doctors that are approved to fill out the forums that the embassy will pass you. I am not sure why a menstrual cycle would interfere with the medical examination, but if you are really concerned you could call one of the doctors or call the embassy and ask for the doctors that are approved to see these cases and ask them if you have to be off of your menstrual cycle in order to have the examination.

You must schedule your interview prior to the medical exam for the Philippines. SLEC requires a copy of the confirmation page to verify that you indeed are having an interview. Once you have scheduled the interview (dates for interviewing are typically 30-45 days out) then go and have the exam. Follow your cycle for the medical as your appointment must be a week after your last period. If you have trouble predicting your menstrual cycle, there are apps that are pretty accurate if you are regular. I had two females and their periods were one week apart. I got the app and followed both and we scored a date that both were clear to exam.

You should be in the Filipino sub forum where many there can answer these questions. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

Also, for processing through USEM Manila I have a step by step guide for you to follow. It helps you with the proper forms and alerts you to the "gotchas" that you may encounter.

 They do not pick up a packet in the Philippines. They get a letter, which normally doesn't come because PhilPost sucks for mail delivery in the Philippines. They need the Embassy Letter http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/1178798/Instructions%20Packets/iv-interview-preparation-instructions-english-feb-2016.pdf to get started. When they have their case number from NVC they will pay their fee, schedule the interview and then schedule the medical. There is only one place in the Philippines that they can get the medical down and that is at St. Luke's or commonly referred to as SLEC.

Official word from SLEC about menstrual cycle's: While female applicants of child-bearing age can undergo the medical examination during their menstrual period it is likely that the full examination cannot be conducted. To avoid delays, applicants who have their menstrual period may choose to reschedule their appointment for one week after the last day of their period.

No need to call the Embassy or Doctor's they need to go to the website and follow the directions. http://www.slec.ph/us-visa-applicants.shtml

Menstral cycle???

why is that an issue?

any doctor on the list to do medicals for the US would have to exam any time of the month or even if a woman was pregnant

For the exam in the Philippines; to attain a full and complete exam the woman must be at least one week beyond the last day of her last menstrual cycle. Here is the official word from the medical examination requirement for the medical facility that processes all of the medical exams for the Embassy in the Philippines.

A delay will occur if the women shows up while still menstruating they will do a partial exam but she will have to return to complete the full exam to qualify for an interview at USEM.

Yes. Once you get to the Embassy level then it's a whole new ball game. Each and everyone is different. That's why it's important that the OP heads over to the Filipino sub forum and get the information directly from those who have gone before.

Thanks for trying to help. It's a great service to the community.
