Baby's passport

Hi

Our daughter (4 months) got her U.S. passpport last week and it's not valid without a signature. Obviously she's an Einstein but just can't hold the pen yet. As the U.S. citizen should my husband sign it for her and does anyone have to witness this? We're currently living in Ireland, so should we leave it blank and sign it in front of an immigration officer on our next trip to the U.S?

I had the same question last year when I got my daughter's US passport, she was 2 years old at that time. I emailed the National Passport Center and they told me that I can sign the passport as follows;

daughter's name by father's name (father) e.g Shiloh Jolie Pitt by Brad Pitt (Father)

Our daughter travelled to see her Venezuelan family at age four months. Not knowing what to do, we just left her passport's signature spot empty, and we had no problems at all. But after she returned to the US, I found the info that MJA has presented on a government website (I think it's on travel.state.gov somewhere). I think that's the "right" thing to do, but in practice, I wouldn't stress too much about it.
