It's not divisiveness it's just a fact. The sooner we can admit there is a problem the sooner we can fix it.

Just like many white people I know don't want to admit that years of segregation and slavery created many of the problems. The truth makes people afraid.

Right? You know, I couldn't help but wonder as I was watching the video, if some of us actually bothered paying attention to it. Sure enough, clear as day - the woman tried to avoid being pulled over by pretending she was parking. Ummm yeah, sorry, cops are allowed to pull you over in your own driveway if they need to. Second, he repeatedly asked her to get back in the car, obviously he was concerned that once he goes back, she was going to try and get away again. It's very simple - you don't comply, they have the right to arrest you. Seems to me cop was very nice at first, definitely did not have in mind "I hate black people so I'm going to yank this woman out of her car". She was a drama queen who was looking to create a scene and provoke a cop and well, I guess it worked.

Saw an update on the news tonight. The Chief apologized to the woman, and she accepted it graciously. She referred to it as a good step in the right direction (a paraphrase).

I belive that the stats show they commit a wildly disproportionate amount of the violent crime across this country. Lot of room for debate on why.

I don't think that her skin color was necessarily the driving force behind what ultimately occurred. She was alleged to have been speeding. She followed that by attempting to allude or skirting the definition of the crime. Then she failed to follow commands repeatedly. I will leave it to his superior officers to determine if the officer used the proper amount of restraint and eventual force but I don't think that the lady was a victim of racially motivated police brutality.

I am not really trying to settle that question, the video doesn't look into what was on the minds of these folks as this was going down.

I am focused on the second part of the vide in the squad car. Do we feel that black people have violent tendencies as expressed by this police officer?
