Hi Everyone,

Good luck on your immigration journeys. What an interesting message thread. I was wondering kind of the same thing too. Who are they, where are they, are they even real people, etc.?

Ok, from what I can see, on that front-banner, the breakdown by ethnic group of those nine people is as follows:

-5 Asians

-1 Hispanic (though I think he looks Asian)

-3 Caucasians/Whites

Actually, what really caught my attention about those people on the banner is:

"How come there are so many damn Asians on it?". Sorry, I had to be so blunt, as frankly this is "Immigrating to America Visa Journey", not "Immigrating to Asia Visa Journey"!

My guess is that they are either still waiting in Asia for their immigration paperwork, or they are happily in the USA living an American way of life.

And yes, VJ site Administrators, please update the site image with new peoples (or no people at all, to be fair), to reflect a more diverse and non-Asian only America (I'm sure other VJ members will agree with this one)!

Ant

P.S. Just for the fun of it, any VJ members want to make up some names for these VJ front-banner celebs? Lol...sorry, I can't think of any Asian names, other than Lee, Chan, Ho, Wong,...lol...(although I think it would be better to use these people's real names)

I know I did, thought they are semi-celebs among the VJ families...

top_banner.jpg

Where are they now? How are they doing? Just wondering....

:o :o :o :o :o

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

The first thing you need to learn is to not make racists posts in an Immigration forum.

In before the lock, or deletion!!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Wow.

Quite ignorant, I see.

One of the main reasons that those individuals are on the VJ banner is becasue they were very helpful individuals and stood out as such.

You weren't here then so you don't know. Now you do...so back off with those ignorant and unnecessary remarks.

Fukc you, a$$wipe.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Gupt.

What's the big deal? It *is* pretty heavy on the Asian representation.

Maybe so, but there's a "way" to voice one's opinion without sounding racist, too.

Hi Everyone,

Good luck on your immigration journeys. Ok, sorry for the misunderstandings about my previous posts and if some people were offended by it. My point of the post was basically to say that there should be more ethnic diversity in the images shown by VJ, as America is a multicultural and diverse society, and all races should be equally represented on VJ, and not one race more than the other, which is the exact opposite of racism. A part of racism is exclusion, and from the looks of it, other races seem to be excluded. I'm sure you'd feel this way if the Asians, or any other race was excluded in representation on VJ, or on any other website.

As well, please don't assume that you know what my ethnic background is. For all you know, I may be Asian, lived in a society with Asian influences, and have personally known Asian people most of my entire life. After all, Canada (the country where I immigrated from) is a diverse and multicultural country too, just like America. My past posts on VJ speak for themselves regarding my stance on Asian society and gives hints to why I feel I have the right to my stance on this matter...

The VJ search engine isn't what it used to be, so I'm not going to go do any searches. But I will take your word for it. Take care.

My post started out with a simple intention and with much care about these folks. There must be a significant reason why Ewok decided to take his time to photoshop their pictures and post it on THE banner, realize there aren't other banner but this one. I wanted to hear from them if they are still on board, what's up, what's going on, how are you, kind of post! They sure look very happy! How's that little child doing?

"Is that you Chuck and Kim?": guys, :) I'll never tell! Some of you have met me in person, what do you think? Does the picture do me justice? :D

AntandD,

So many damn asian? Why you think these damn asians are here? Maybe their white husband/wife marry and bring them here to America. Wait, that's true. Telling people you "KNOWN asian", and "may be asian" just did it for me. I am totally convinced now. Why stop there? Here some pointers:

1. My best friend is asian.

2. I love chinese foods.

3. I like oriental girl.

4. Asians are good at math.

5. Indians are good with computer.

6. Asians aren't that bad, my delivery guy is friendly.

7. I have asian friend, my dry-cleaner is orient.

Speaking proudly of your root and your country of origin, Canada, last time I check, canada is still white as rice. ethnically diverse is something you have to make an concious effort to act upon everyday not just randomly pick and choose when and where to be diversed that may best benefit you. You don't know asians that for sure. It bothers you so much to see many of the asians on the stupid photoshop banner, i'm afraid to be running into you on the street in chinatown. You are indeed have forgotten the principal of this board as I understand it is to help and support our brother and sister who go through this immigration process, not to see what are the color of their skin and their ethnic packground. Stop that thinking or just do ME a favor and vanish. Think: Immigration!

Life is not fair, why people keep thinking "it has to be fair, equal and if not, we have to ruin it for all". It wasn't fair that Kim and I had to interview with the CO during AOS but others had their cases transfered to California and get their greencard in few weeks. I supposed I should be and could be crying about that. Just like here you are crying how it's not fair why "so many damn asians" are on the photo. I don't see and never thought about how many white/asian/black people are there on this board, maybe because I live in a neighborhood where I've seen white people move out, black people move in then now mixed with asians, while i'm working in a corporate complex with majority caucasians where my SVP is a african american. That's diverse! Most people don't give a damn about what color your skin is in my industry, they just want to see you get your project finished and the bottomlines are increased. Should learn to treat people without looking at their skincolor!

I'd rather you not appologize as if you are doing someone a favor with your appology. Be specific, "Ok, sorry for the misunderstandings about my previous posts and if some people were offended by it. " failing the smell test! You just pissed me off even more by posting this type of appology! People pissed off at you because you offended them with your "damn asian" comment, and they have made it known they pissed off at you directly. Why not be franked: "I am sorry, I'm an idiot, I make a mistake and I'll never offend you guys again, my bad!". This type of appology shows you don't really care much about anyone's feeling, and again insulting people's intelligent by offering an unappologize appology.

What a joke you are!

That's what I thought about the majority of the post, although the bottom part about the asian names certainly went way too far.

I don't like it when people cry racism when a race is mentioned, but there was some kinda racist content there.
