Hi,

I am preparing all necessary documents for ROC and was wondering if we had enough. We have :

-copy of my Green Card

- copies of our driver licenses

-copy of the bank account( it is checking account, but also has 2 of our credit cards linked not sure if it will show up on the account summary)

-copy of American Express credit cards

-itinerary for our vacations since I received my GC Washington DC, Punta Cana Dominican Republic, trip to Russia, trip to France

- and pics from all different family celebrations and from vacations

We live with my in-laws so we do not have any mortgage or utility bills. I am afraid I do not have enough evidence.

Thanks for any input

We're also living with my parents. We got a signed and notarized letter from them saying how long we've been living there, the address, and what we do as chores (cooking, laundry, trash, etc)

how about cell phone bills? drivers licenses with same address?

Ask your in-laws to write you a letter, attesting that you guys live with them and about the relationship in general. Costco? Gym memberships? Dental ins? Can he add you to the car title? As my RFE stated- anything that has both names on it.

Agree with others. Have your in-laws write an affidavit stating that you live together as a married couple in their home. That will take the place of having a lease or mortgage together, and explain why you have no utility bills in your names.

You need your tax transcripts. You need to supply bank statements showing your joint account going back the entire length of your marriage. Same for joint credit card accounts. No joint car insurance? If you drive, don't you need to be insured? Named as beneficiaries on any life insurances? Mail addressed to the both of you?

OP and Kins8487, Affidavits are secondary evidence when it comes to ROC. As others have said, gather evidence of financial co-mingling. Download and get wills of medical power of attorneys if your evidence is weaker. They are available on line and provide security for you beyond ROC. Good luck.

Yes, in general affidavits are weak evidence. However, in the case of getting an affidavit from someone you live with, it is a good idea to include. That is not the same as a simple affidavit from a friend or relative just to state they know you and that you are a real married couple. This is a particular statement to be used when you have no joint lease or mortgage because you live with someone else in their home. Yes, they need other evidence types too, just like anyone, but if you live with someone, then you should have them write an affidavit to attest to that fact. Back it up with copies of the IDs with the same address on them.
