Hi. Thankfully I've found this forum. My wife and I got married on Monday and are now embarking on the process of adjusting my status so we can spend our lives together. We are going down the I-130+I-485 route as I am a UK citizen who was originally here for a vacation to see her at the start of the summer. Anyway We've had a look at the guide on this site and are slightly confused with two parts of it. We can't work out if I need to have a completed I-693 and a medical examination completed before we can submit the I-485 and we can't work out if we need to file an I-485 supplement A - what is it for? We are planning to file an I-765 and an I-131 with our package. Any help or advice in addition to the questions we have will be greatly appreciated. I am extremely stressed right now as I dont have my birth certificate in this country and nobody at home can find it. I'm also finding it hard for us to get my name on utilities bills and to set up our joint bank accounts as everyone seems to want a SSN which I obviously don't have.

Thanks in advance folks.

You need a birth certificate. Why don't you request one from the hospital you were born in?

I have my family looking everywhere for it. If they don't find it I'll get a copy made and sent out to me. It's not a problem just an additional worry.

Submit your I-693 with the AOS application.

You don't need the supplement to the I485. You entered legally and are the spouse of a US citizen.

Remember you are filing four different applications so check the instructions of each for documents required. There may be duplication of things. Separate each complete packet with a clip then mail together.

I-130 Petition

I-485 Application for Adjustment of Status

I-765 Application for Employment Authorization

I-131 Application for Travel Document

Concerning the frustration--it's just going to be that way until you get some documentation from immigration that you are more than a visitor on VWP. The Employment Authorization will show you are legal in the U.S. for a year and will allow a SSN and driver license which will help.

Is the I-693 complicated? I don't have any vaccination records here with me or a medical history.

You can get the needed shots for adults

MMR

Tdap

Flu---not flu season so waived

Varicella-- if you had chickenpox, tell them and the shot is waived. They are supposed to take your word for it. You can get the shots anywhere you can find cheapest and take in the proof.

They do a blood test for sexually transmitted diseases, a TB skin test to check for tuberculosis, and a general health check. They will ask about alcohol use and drug use. I can't speak for your civil surgeon, but if you were getting a medical in London for a visa, any admission of drug use, even one time 10 years ago will result in adding a urine test for drug screening and possible other evaluations. If you have had something serious like a heart attack, cancer, depression, diabetes, etc, they will want details maybe even from the doctor who treated you. Don't know the typical drill except at the clinic in London so can't say what your civil surgeon might want as documentation...maybe just your telling of any previous illnesses or surgeries. Make a list of dates and such so you are prepared to discuss.

You do not need to submit the I-693 with your application if a mandatory interview is required. For instance if you came on a non immigrant visa like VWP.You will be required to bring the I-693 to the actual interview though. If you have the time just get the I-693 done, but its not mandatory.

Hi folks - I'm filling out my forms today - do I need to file an I-864 and a g-325a with my package(I-130, I-131, I-485 and an I-765)??

Follow the lists in the guide. http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2

Form I-130 package items 1-15

Form I -485 package items 1-13

Form I-765 package (listed as #14) is actually a separate application and you will have to read what goes with it in the form instructions.

Form I-131 package (listed as #15) is also a separate application and you will have to read what goes with it in the form instructions.

You are sending four packets, not just one big one. Some documentation might go in more than one packet.
