I am go through AOS through marriage after having been an F-1 student for years. I went through OPT and received an alien number. For some reason, when I received my NOA's, I noticed that all my forms showed a different alien number than the one I originally had, and which I had included in my forms. The I 130 form that my wife sent however, shows the correct alien number that she wrote in the form (she previously gained citizenship through marriage also).

Is that normal? Why is my alien number different on these forms?

There is no problem.

The "A" number assigned to one's OPT-based work permit document is always different than the real, permanent "alien number" USCIS assigns to one upon the filing of an adjustment of status application.

I called the USCIS office before seeing your reply, and they confirm the same thing you said. Thank you for writing!
