Agree I hate it when people do that

We have some folks at work who do it in every story they tell. I finally told one lady the other day. Why does it matter

I feel the same way when it's people that want to talk about a person's skin color WITHOUT bringing it up. If you want to talk about it, just say so. No need to be scared about it.

Wow, you guys really are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Welcome to CEHEST

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

No worries. The ones I was talking about are white. It happens on both sides. Context is always important and you can easily tell when it's a part of the story or if it's being used to highlight a point.

So you only have a problem with it when it's a POC?

You know better than that . When my mother was sick she engaged a black nurse about where she was from etc. She went on to tell her she had a friend who was a nurse from Thier, who was also black. It embarrassed me and we had a polite talk on the subject when she left.

Never said it didn't. But it seems like here, it's widely discussed by white people, but only an issue when approached by black people. I've seen Janelle called out for nothing more than posting an article that had black people in it and called angry for no apparent reason.

I only have a problem when it's mentioned to highlight a positive or negative aspect that might be tied into that person's ethnicity.

I don't like it for any reason unless it's very pertinent to the story

Hence the description. My mom used to do it all the time. I had to correct her that it doesn't matter what race the person was, unless they said or did something that could be construed as racial bias.

You killing me Smalls!

On a serious note, when I was younger I thought it was awesome. But recent events have shown me it's kind of an insult.

Lot's of things we thought were cool when we were younger aren't so cool anymore. Funny how things change with age and maturity.

A lot of black men I've told this to think I'm crazy. I think when you start maturing and seeing things outside of your perceived life, it broadens your perspective.
