Hello,

I have received an offer from a company that would be willing to sponsor my work visa, however the work would be contract basis (1099 not W2). Does H1B allow for contract work? If not what are my other options?

Thank You.

hi

no, you have to be employed and they have to prove that there is no one that can do you work, they can hire tons of people to do contract work

your wouldn't be considered their employee, as you would be self employed because they don't take the money from your paycheck to do your taxes

what type of education and experience do you have?

I should probably mention that my area of specialization is in the television industry and most employment in the US for this seems to be contract based and not full time. SO my best option would be for them to employ me as full time?

And to answer your question, I have a masters from the US in my field.

Hello,

No, you must be an employee. You can not be an independent contractor. If not what are my other options? Get an employer to sponsor you as an employee.

Thank You.

Hey, that's so great you got a job offer over there.

Depending on your eligibility but we have a lot of Australians going over on the E-3 work visa and there are some solutions that allow them to work as a W2 employee in the US while working in the contracting sphere.

Sounds like your employer is pretty willing to assist you in getting it processed which is great! All the best.
