Well, he didn't get the visa till after I left, LOL! So it would be hard to bring him home with me . . . but it would have been nice if it had worked out that way. I think he still has things to get done before he leaves and I have things to get done before he comes! I have big mess around my house because I stopped doing things so I could get ready for the trip to Egypt, LOL!!!

Now i think i need to go buy one of those attachments for the toilet, LOL . . . I was going to do that earlier but I put it off thinking it would be awhile before someone would be using it :lol::lol: . But I have only one bathroom without carpeting (ok, i have an old house that had wall-to-wall carpeting everywhere . . . yuck, even in bathrooms . . . so I have lots of work to do to get rid of it). ALSO, american houses aren't built with drains in the floor like egyptian ones . . . so where is all that water going to go??? Because it seems like the floors of egyptian bathrooms are good for swimming at times, LOL!!!

I'm curious about what the toilet attachment is exactly....

Oh, yes, the infamous toilet issue! Greatly discussed in the Yalla thread! You might want to check back to about page 17 or 18 for some of that discussion as it was kind of funny at times.

Sanicare

This is the link that Mary posted over there. I had been looking at other websites before, but this seemed just as good as any other. It is for hygiene purposes of course . . . this type is like a handheld "bidet". Yep, when I told Ahmed about how westerners only use toilet paper, he was horrified, LOL! Then he went and told other people and they all sat around and discussed it. It is just different . . . so I promised him I would get one for him and he thanked me so much. He even double-checked today to be sure I would do it and I had ordered one already. Whew!!!

LOL yep when i met George he had already been in the states about 3yrs, and he learned to 'manage' i guess by using a small bottle for water to clense...........he says toilet paper doesnt make him feel as clean.........i dunno for me i think it is a little odd, but every culture is different and i respect clean hiney

I'm sitting here laughing myself to tears. Okay so I'm a bit manic from my pre-interview nerves, but Moh expressed the same sentiments regarding the "paper only" thing. I'm not laughing about that exactly, well just laughing for the sake of it I guess. Anyway I am so delighted that you posted this here. I am bookmarking the link and will purchase one as soon as the interview approval goes through (I am being uncharacteristically optimistic).

Hmm, definately going to have to get one of those sanicare things. Right now, we use a watering can as an ad hoc lota.

My DH's biggest issue is what to do when he's away from home and there's no watering can sitting on the toilet

you gotta by a new toilet? #######.

how did it go from Congrats to oh I need a toilet. < shonnie is confused >

anyways congrats on your hubby getting the visa.

LOL, Thanks!

I just mentioned that one of the things I was doing to prepare for ahmed's impending arrival had to do with the "hygienic" bathroom customs that muslims follow . . . i.e. they use water instead of toilet paper. It is just an attachment for the existing toilet that I am buying . . . a whole new toilet would be nice but very expensive!

 maybe you can buy a portable watering can?? like in a kit bag to carry around???
