Medical prior to Interview (K1 Process)

Hey everybody!

I have a brief question about my situation regarding the medical. My fiancé and I have received the NOA2 in late June. That provides me with my Alien Registration Number . I have already scheduled my medical for next week, without an approved interview appointment! Should I reschedule the medical? Because I just heard in a video on youtube (what a source) that you need to bring the approval from the embassy to the medical appointment. On the other hand, the medical will be valid and can be scheduled half a year prior to the interview. I'm confused. Any advise? Any opinion? Any experiences? Any love?

- thx Vanessa

Hi Vanessa,

You need to be aware that the process after NOA2 differs between countries! If they let you schedule a medical appointment without an interview date, that is probably ok in Germany (in Scandinavia it is). They would've/should've let you know if otherwise. I suggest you head over in the Germany sub-forum for some expert advice for your consulate.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

In my country I had to take email from the embassy that shows I have an appointment date for interview to the medical . They would not do the medical without the appointment notice from the embassy.

Hi, im also from Germany, and I scheduled my medical before the interview aswell. Thats not a problem, they dont need an inteterview approval. But you do need the NVC case number for the medical appointment. I dont think the Alien number is important for the medical.

The medical went fine. They did it anyways (in Hamburg) even without the case number. They are gonna hold my case and wait until I give them the number, after that they'll send it to Frankfurt. Thanks everyone!

That's awesome news! My boyfriend just scheduled his medical (Hamburg) as well but we have not received the NVC number yet, so it is good to know they can still do the medical without that. The appointment is in a 1 1/2 weeks, so I am hoping I have the NVC number by then.

You just have to keep in mind that the immigrant visa validity is limited to the validity of the medical examination which is 6 months.
