Service Request for AOS

Hi Friends - based on the current processing times, does anyone know when you can actually file a service request for I-485? We tried to the other day but it said we were within processing time - NOA was February 4th. It didn't give an indication of when we could and USCIS officers were of no help.

I think it's when your local office is working on files past your NOA date is when your classed as out of normal processing times Edited July 19, 2016 by Moslund

I'd wait about another 3 months or so before starting to worry. Norfolk, VA field office is working on I-485s filed in November, 2015.

Yes but that data is a month and a half delayed so in all reality there probably on end of December cases right now maybe even start of January cases depending how there case load has been

Honestly, I'm not sure it's worth it. I managed to submit a service request after 6 months, and they still haven't responded 3 months later (I already have my green card now!). They sent me a couple of emails saying someone was looking into it, but I've never actually got a response. If you are looking for more info, might be worth calling or making an info-pass instead.

The question really is where your case is right now? Is it at NBC, is it at your local office, or is it at some other office with a waiver? Finding out where it is, will be the issue (and just because the website or the phone people say it's in one location means very little). Generally you can file a request after 6 months. If your service center is backed up, you'll probably get a reply confirming that. You could try a request and then also contact your congressperson or senator if you do not receive a reply.

I put in a service request once... it took over a year for a response. I made a thread about it.

I contacted my congressman to inquire on the location of my husband's aos like yuna mentioned. She responded the same day that it was with my local office. Within a week the aos was approved.
