we have applied for AOS from a K1 , they received it on may 7 2016, got txt and NOA as usual, biometrics we already had also just a few weeks after they received case. However now were in the 70 day mark and the online case status with uscis still shows a validation error, says receipt number incorrect,, well its correct, havnt received any rfe or other info since biometric appointment. why cant I track it? I called uscis and the gal said" I don't know why, sometimes its like that" wow how reassuring!

we filed work auth and AP with it too but no info them either. we really are trying to buy our tickets as we want to go back Philippines for 3 months by end November, but with out her greencard we cant. any insight out here why we cant track our case and why uscis cant answer our questions?

AOS can take 6 - 9 months. Did you apply for EAD/AP also?

AOS takes time as previous person said it takes 6-8months for approval.. There people from December and january still got an approval yet... It's normal for the receipts not to work the system is extremely glitchy... Most people are getting EAD/AP approval day 85-100... They recieved my stuff April 11th my EAD just got approved last week and my AOS hasn't updated in 70days but it's only been just 3months since I filed I won't probably get an approval for another 3 or 4 months

6-8months is average country wide... But in the end all comes down to your local office some do get approved in 4-5 months some take over a year but the average is 6-8months... Not seeing the case status it sucks that you can't see it but as I said the system is extremely glitchy for some but isn't for other... I know how frustration it can be with that cause he entire time my k1 never worked until my visa arrived in the mail lol

A poster commented and stated that the web site is not working properly currently that is why you can't enter the number

and are getting an error message.
Yes, it can take a year or over for some, we have been waiting for the GC for 14 months so far.
EAD/AP combo card time was also mentioned correctly by a poster, being between 85-100 days, we received it over 100 days.

Same happened to us. We applied in April of this year. We received noa1 about two weeks after. We had our biometrics done in New Orleans and then tried to track case which was unsuccessful. We tried tracking numerous times. USCIS told me to wait two weeks and try again. I was never successful. On July 12 we got letter from USCIS stating we were approved and to expect the green card in three weeks. We got it 4 days later. We were pleasantly surprised.

There are people from April 2015 still waiting for their GC.

Those approved quick, like my husband are NOT the norm, and no one should base their concept of how long this process takes off people who were pretty much auto approved. When we saw the approval, I assumed it was a mistake in the system.

You can't even put in a service request until 75 days in for EAD and AP. So 70 isn't considered a long time at all.

The handful of people approved for their GC pre-90 days is the 1% of filers, if not less than 1%. The people on VJ are also a minority of people that apply, it can give you a good idea, but it by no means should be used as an actual time. If you called USCIS and said "well I have friends who were approved fast! This internet site shows people are approved fast!" they're going to probably write you off as a hostile person and close the call.

For every 5 people you may personally know filing and using your local office, there may be 500 people you don't know, and their times affect yours.

Right now, it shows your local office (assuming it's Milwaukee) as processing GC's from Nov 2015 currently. And in most cases, if you called and said why hasn't yours been looked at, they'll tell you "The local office is currently processing cases from Nov 2015."

But the time for all of this is going to depend on a variable of things, if they keep the case at MSC, if they send it to the local office, if they send it to ANOTHER office due to local office backup, or they send it to another service center. Any and all of these things are variables in how long these things take. You also have error on their end, sending it to the wrong office, misplacing most documents, or it getting place in a folder underneath NEWER files, making their files approved well before yours, which has all happened.

As for not being able to see it, there were posters in the April AOS 2016 thread that have talked to Reps saying that there will be a system overhaul within the next month, and that it's why a lot of cases aren't showing.

A LOT of cases are not showing for A LOT of people here on VJ. Sometimes cases load, sometimes they don't. It's the downside of having everything on computers these days. Sometimes it's human error, which they can fix, sometimes it's not, which I don't see them going through EVERY case that isn't working just to fix one case.
