I need some info. My fiancee just finished her medical exam. They took some x-rays of her chest and said they saw something abnormal and needed to do it again. So they x-ray her again but they dont tell her if everything was ok. All they say is for her to bring her x-ray plate with her to interview and then bring it to the USA. Does anyone know what this is about? Does everyone have to do this? Im very worried. Interview is next week also.

Does she have a positive PPD skin test? If so it may be that Xray is showing what appears like Tuberculosis. It is good that they are doing a second Xray to hopefully rule this out.

Peil,

The X-ray report form will tell the consular officer what he needs to know. If there's a problem that will affect the issuance of the visa she will surely be told at the interview. If nothing is said - she should ask. Then she will know if she should hold on to the x-ray as a reference point for future medical evaluation or can toss it.

Has she been asked to do a sputum test?

im sure if they found something on the second xray they would have sent her to a doctor for treatment and not on to the interview. immigration officers are not able to read xrays so they wouldnt know if somthing was wrong or not.

im sure everything is ok...dont worry.

donnaal,

Agreed, consular officer and immigration officers cannot read x-rays. That's why DS-3024, Chest X-Ray and Classification Worksheet, is part of the medical report. They can read that, and they will know if something is wrong or not.

From what I have heard about St Luke's, if they see something suspicious on the xray, they will take a second. If they are still suspicious of tuberculosis, they will ask you to come back for sputum tests (before the interview).
