I just became an US citizen and would like to petition I130 for my father. i know there are numerous posts and data available on this website but too much data have triggered confusion. Can anyone help me understand the process. i am going to put some points and i would appreciate if you can correct me where wrong. please do not put in referral links as i have read plenty like i mentioned before.

1) I file I130 ($420), i live in IL, so will file with chicago lockbox

Proofs attaching -

1.1 - Naturalization cert.

1.2 my DOB with parents name, note - my dob mentions my mother as my father's wife (mentioned because my father do not have BC and MC, marriage was never registered and can't be done post dated as my mother is not alive). i will have my father get two affidavits from his relatives who witnessed the marriage ritual. For his BC, he has school leaving certificates, college transcripts , passport and a national ID number confirming the same DOB everywhere

2) I130 takes about 4 to 5 months to be approved if no RFE is received than the file is forwarded to the NVC. i am little unsure after this so as to in what order things occurs, invoice numbers, case numbers, beneficiary numbers etc. correct me where i am wrong ?

3) As soon as file reaches the NVC, A case number is assigned.

4) i fill in DS261, chose petitioner as the agent for the beneficiary so that i can correspond, pay the fees with USCIS/NVC

5) Pay AOS fee ($120), then IV fee ($325) both online with the help of caseid# and invoice number and will upload civil documents ? (not sure about this order, do i pay AOS fee first, they generate a invoice in some days and than i eventually pay IV fee)

6) wait for the case to be completed and file to be sent to the local embassy where my father will be interviewed.

7) Who (NVC or local embassy) and at what point the beneficiary will be contacted ?

8) After having contacted, my father will undergo medical exam and than will attend the interview. (will the embassy assigns the interview date or beneficiary picks up a slot out of available places)

Local embassy for my father will be in New Delhi, INDIA. please clarify my doubts and guide me.

Thanks guys.

At some point (I believe for NVC) he'll need a birth certificate. Read up on what else might be accepted, but as a general rule they want to see a birth certificate.
