My fiancé and I are going to be heading out to print the last few documents I need before I head back to Montreal for my interview and I just came up with a minor, last minute question. I was reading reviews for the consulate and one of the most recent mentioned that the DS-160 needs to be printed in color. I printed everything in black and white, and now I'm wondering how much it actually matters. Should I reprint the DS-160 in color? Is there anything else, like my passport bio page, that should also be in color?

I'm glad this whole thing is almost over!

I'm probably just going to reprint the DS-160 and my passport in color, but that's mostly because I'm paranoid. That review was the first mention of having anything in color, other than the passport photos, that I've seen anywhere. None of the official instructions mention it.

Totally agree... why risk having delays over a few dollars in re-printing. I don't remember if I did mine in colour, I wouldn't think that one would matter since there isn't really anything that needs colour... but yeah if they say colour, I print colour! :)

Good luck!

Gotta be in color. That was probably my fiancée''s review. Personally, I printed everything in color because it looks more professional and it's one less thing for someone to to say something about... But the DS-160 should be in color.

Hey! Those were my words and my experience in that Montreal interview forum that I had my fiancé "Chris&Olivia" post for me... My interview was last Wednesday. They specifically asked for the DS-160 to be in colour. By all means, do as you please... But it's an extra 20 cents at most for A coloured copy as well as peace of mind. As for the copy of the passport... I just had that in black and white (but make sure your face is visible and not blacked out... Youll have to play around with the printer to lighten up the image) whatever questions you may have, let me know. the whole interview process is still very clear in my memory. To help out a little, if you copy (or scan and print) any documents, use the "photo" setting to do so and use a high resolution than 200dpi. This way the items will be clearer.

Thanks everyone! We reprinted it. I'm glad I was reading those reviews, though, because I honestly wouldn't have known. It adds an extra level of difficulty when things like this aren't clarified on any of the checklists because I probably would have panicked in line tomorrow morning.
